POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

25 years later, we don’t forget. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, our cadets participated in the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at OSU to honor the 2,977 lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. We also honor the brave heroes, first responders, and service members whose lives were forever changed that day.

On Sept. 11, 2001, I was a recent graduate of Ohio University, putting off my job hunt as I recuperated from a flare of Crohn’s disease that had lasted most of the academic year.

Not yet employed as a photojournalist and still getting my strength back, I didn’t make any pictures that day. I watched the news as we waited to hear from my father who was flying home that day from a business trip. The concert I was supposed to see that night was of course postponed.

Being sidelined for one of the most shocking and memorable news events in my lifetime is something I’ve recalled over and over during my career. I miss covering breaking news but I carry a sense of immediacy and intention wherever I go, for whatever I cover.

Along with so many first responders on 9/11, remember the journalists who documented that day and helped inform the public. We have their pictures and video and words and pages to help us #neverforget

A view from the north. I got a lot of steps in today although not as many as the 3,100+ participants in this year’s Ohio State University 9/11 Stair Climb. Just an amazing event. You feel so big and yet so small@at the same time.

A failed #panorama of Ohio Stadium. Still scenic, just abbreviated. A perfectly beautiful morning and so much energy for the 9/11 stair climb!

On the first time in the event’s history, Buckeyes eclipsed the number of lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Over 3,100 students, staff, alumni and friends climbed the stairs continuously for 45 minutes in Ohio Stadium on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America.

Never Forget! Incredibly proud of The Ohio State University Army ROTC for hosting another powerful 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Having been part of this program makes it even more meaningful to see these cadets lead an event that brought together incredible speakers and more than 3,000 people to remember, honor, and never forget. Proud of these young leaders and the Buckeye community.

The Class of 2026 has officially traded in late-night study sessions, field training, ruck marches, and “one more rep” moments for something much bigger — the honor of leading America’s Soldiers.

7th Brigade Army ROTC celebrate their hard work, resilience, and commitment as they commission as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army. This is not just the end of one chapter — it is the beginning of a lifetime of leadership, service, and purpose.

To our newly commissioned officers: congratulations! Your Army story is just getting started, and we cannot wait to see the impact you make.

Drop a 👏 to help us celebrate the Commissioning Class of 2026!

Welcoming the Army’s newest leaders

Maj. Gen. Matthew S. Woodruff, Ohio adjutant general, administers the oath of office to new second lieutenants during commissioning ceremonies at the University of Cincinnati and The Ohio State University, May 2 and May 9, 2026, respectively.

The ceremonies highlight the Ohio National Guard’s continued partnership with Ohio’s ROTC programs and their role in developing the next generation of Army leaders. Several of the newly commissioned officers will begin their careers in the Ohio Army National Guard, carrying forward the organization’s Citizen-Soldier tradition of serving their communities, state and nation.

Congratulations to the Army’s newest second lieutenants as they begin their careers of service and leadership.

Full circle moment today getting to come back and watch the commissioning ceremony for one of the first classes of cadets I taught at @theosuarmy.

Hard to put into words how rewarding it is to see these young men and women grow from nervous cadets into confident leaders ready to serve our nation.

One of the best parts of this profession is knowing you get a small role in helping shape the next generation of leaders. Proud of everything they’ve accomplished and excited to see where the Army takes them next.

As a Marine Corps veteran, this one means a lot to me. 🇺🇸

We partnered with FUJI Sports and the National Veterans Memorial & Museum to create this limited rash guard. This isn’t just gear — every purchase directly supports veteran wellness programs at NVMM, helping build connection, purpose, and community for those who served.

If you train, this is a chance to represent something bigger than yourself.
