A wonderful new #tiki ( or should I say #moai ) find. This advertisement for The Pagan Room (1959-1962) restaurant in the Town House Hotel appeared in the La Jolla Light, 1959. This longear Moai winks, invites us in for a “great bar-iety of rum rousers.”

Designed and illustrated by La Jolla artist John Zane, who had been an art director for Phillips Advertising in San Diego. He went on to be advertising director for Cubic Corporation years later.

It’s about time I thanked my Tiki Oasis Ohana. What a tremendous weekend it was. I did sell many paintings too (many more that I forgot to photograph). Bless you all for your support and kind words. And to Baby Doe and Otto and their, no doubt, exhausted team, mucho mahalo to you. Everything was perfect. Especially seeing many good friends. Thanks again @tikioasis @tiki_oasis_marketplace @ottovs @otto_vs @xoxobabydoe @towncountrysd

Today we got a surprise visit from The Masubi Fairy. @marion_lu She filled a little hole in our souls and brightened our day. We cherish these little pleasures our friends bring and hope that this become the new “normal” ❤️❤️#masubi #masubifairy #newnormal
