Still in my diplomacy era 🇺🇳

In 2022, I accepted my admission offer to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies after researching about the course and discovering it aligned with my aspirations. However, whenever people asked me what course I was studying in the university, their facial reactions spoke fear and concern for my future livelihood in a million ways😅.

“What are the job prospects?” “You know you have to eat?” “Ewo tun ni yen bayi ni Naija?” Which simply translates to “which one is that one again in Nigeria 🇳🇬?”

It was at this point I decided I needed to lock in, choose excellence, do beyond the ordinary student, capitalize on my poetry, build something that makes impact and lasts, learn a skill that translates to earning, and be a global peace advocate with the UN 🇺🇳.

As at the time this resolution came to me, there was no designation of sort in the UN. So I decided to keep volunteering, advocating for peace through my poetry, and found an organisation specifically for the purpose of peace advocacy—hoping to contribute to the global peace efforts through community centered action.

Three years after sticking to this resolve, and two months to completing my Bachelor’s programme, the designation “UN Global Advocate for Peace” was created. To top it, the first ever advocate is a poet from Nigeria; the amazing Maryam Bukar Hassan @alhanislam

This is one of the many dreams I have, and I’m convinced that the path is becoming clearer by the day.

It is important to note that the title is not the drive, the passion for positive peace, impact and sustainable development is. Platforms like this only amplify the scale of the work. So start advocating and taking action where you are.📌

Temiloluwa Bolawole is my name, and I am THATPOET, a human catalyst, spoken word poet, peace advocate, founder @thepeacescholars , and a member of the UNICEF Generation Unlimited 9ja Young People’s Action Team, and I use my platforms to spur positive action, peace, and share the gospel of Christ.

Peace begins with you. ☮️

Still in my diplomacy and advocacy era. 🇺🇳

My last post got a lot of traction and several amazing people like you interested in social impact, advocacy, and diplomacy decided to stay with me. Welcome 🤩.

My name is Temiloluwa Bolawole, and I am THATPOET, a human catalyst, spoken word poet, peace advocate, founder @thepeacescholars , and a member of the UNICEF Generation Unlimited 9ja Young People’s Action Team I use my platforms to spur positive action, peace, and share the gospel of Christ. @unicef_nigeria @genunlimited

So if you are wondering how to get your advocacy and impact journey started, here are some tips ⬇️

- Start with advocacy: identify a loophole in society that people aren’t paying attention to, then become so passionate about filing it and drawing people’s attention to it. It goes beyond merely speaking, action is a key part.

- Understand your “WHY” and “HOW”: i developed this framework when I started my journey. Why is simply your purpose, the reason(s) you do all you do. How are simply the ways you want to actualise it. This is usually broken into smaller whys with how’s—per time and season.

For example, you want to be a global policy influencer to change the policies on wealth distribution. You should actively engage with events related to the space. Governance, policy programmes, financial education. You volunteer, develop skills like public speaking.
Build a network of people with similar interests.

If you got here, comment “W Diplomacy”😁

- Use Social media to source for opportunities. Follow people, and organisations that are in the same field, engage their content, and the algorithm will feed you opportunities.

- Volunteer at events that align with the cause you are advocating for. Join societies on campus too.

- Get acquainted with opportunity platforms and communities like YOMA.WORLD. @yoma.world

Apply and shoot your shot. Watch and rewatch the video for more.

If this is your vibe, stay with me. 🇺🇳

2025 was undoubtedly an amazing and beautiful year. 💯 Great feats were attained and the glory of God shone.

Usually, we’d say “we don’t know what the year holds” when we cross into a new year. However, I’m convinced 2026 holds even greater feats, big things, and extraordinary impact. I’ve never been this optimistic about a how a new year would turn out, and I sincerely look forward to how the year will unfold. 😌

My new year started on the 2nd of December, and the lock in is not a trend over here! We are set to produce results and impact across all areas. Peace advocacy with @thepeacescholars , financial freedom and literacy with @thespeakingtrader , and consistent impact and faith with Temiloluwa Bolawole as a Human Catalyst. 📌

Shout out to SBR Visuals @shotsby_rebecca for capturing this moment and making this art piece out of it. The scenes were clips of one of those moments where my brain and body works under so much pressure and tension. Beautiful 🎥.

Happy new year to you 🥳. Would you be kind enough to say it back?

Youths in this part of the world are born with a fire that doesn’t allow them settle. This fire burns ready to light tables of leadership, a path for peace, resilience and sustainable development. 🔥☮️

I had the opportunity of addressing and inspiring the youths of West Africa and the Sahel represented at the 4th Annual West Africa and Sahel Youth Forum in Dakar, Senegal, organised by the @unitednations Nations Office of West Africa and Sahel, the @ilo.org and the Government of Senegal 🇸🇳, here’s what I left them with.

Every young person has a stake in peace and sustainable development!📌

A big shoutout to @unicef_nigeria @genunlimited for the opportunity to amplify my work for peace and youth development. 💙

If you had the opportunity to address and inspire youths on a global stage, what would you say? Share in the comments, someone might just be inspired 👇

And it’s a wrap 🤩

I’m deeply grateful to God for the covenant of Effortless Ease and Amplified Efforts throughout this journey. The grace I experienced… God is truly good 😭❤️.

One of the resolves I made before entering the university was to express the fullness of God’s nature in my life by being multifaceted, not limiting myself to academics alone but living a life of impact in every sphere.

Throughout my undergraduate years, I:
• Volunteered at over 100 engagements
• Spoke and performed poetry on 100+ stages
• Led multiple teams and initiatives
• Coached, guided, and influenced over 1,000 students academically, in faith, and in social impact
• Organised and executed several high-level campus events
• Founded a social impact organisation and a finance brand while building my personal brand as THATPOET
• Built my network, had fun, and forged lifelong friendships
• Grew spiritually and deepened my relationship with God
• Loved, learned, healed, and grew from experiences
• Acquired high-value and soft skills for life
• Earned a fully funded international opportunity with UNICEF and the UN to take my peace work to a global policy-shaping platform
• And through it all, I maintained excellent grades

The scripture I held onto before stepping into school was Daniel 6:3. Truly, I chose to live Christ, and I chose excellence.

Thank you, Jesus.
On to the next phase, THATPOET will shake the world. The Speaking Trader will raise miracle workers 🌍🔥

Ps: I caught my work back o, I know what my eyes went through working on the research 😅😅.

Oh, to walk in purpose, Oh, to be an instrument of peace and change ✨❤️.

The West Africa and Sahel sub-region is set to experience a monumental shift with the adoption of the Dakar Pact. Centered on education and employment for young women and men, especially in emergencies, it places peace, stability, development, and resilience at the heart of our collective agenda.

The Pact reaffirms that youth are not just victims of conflict but drivers of the peace we seek. It highlights the interconnectedness between education, decent jobs, meaningful youth inclusion in policymaking, and sustainable peace.

Drawing inspiration from UNSCR 2601, UNSCR 2250, and the Mindelo Call to Action (2023), the Dakar Pact builds on lessons learned, compares state responses, and offers targeted recommendations to turn our aspirations for decent employment, education, youth inclusion for peace and development, into action.

I’m honoured to have actively influenced this policy, setting my region for sustainable peace and continued development 🤩.

Thank you @unicef_nigeria and @genunlimited 9ja YPAT for the opportunity to represent you, every young person in Nigeria, and future generations to come. 💙 #ForEveryChild #Youth4Youth

I’m so excited to share that I’d be representing Nigeria, @unicef_nigeria, @genunlimited 9ja, and every young person in Nigeria, West Africa, and the Sahel at the 4th Annual West Africa and Sahel Youth Forum in Dakar, Senegal organised by the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and other UN organisations and partners.

This strategic gathering, under the theme “Employment and Education in Emergencies for Young Women and Men: Building a Peaceful and Secure West Africa and Sahel,” is an opportunity to amplify youth voices, advance concrete actions for decent work and quality education, and contribute to building the peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous region we envision.

I’m especially excited to share my background, knowledge, and everything I’ve learned in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, bringing the lens of peacebuilding into the conversations on education, employment, and security.

Grateful for the chance to engage, learn, and collaborate with young leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the region. Together, we’ll explore solutions that bridge education, employment, peace, and security, and also explore their intersection with environmental sustainability.

Thank you, UNICEF Generation Unlimited 9ja. Here’s to raising Nigeria’s voice, championing young people, and working towards a future where no one is left behind.
