The original subset the various artists who created a Dr. J Custom Card for me used in a way. All cards are based on the “2008 Upper Deck Starquest SQ-10 Julius Erving”. Idea was to see how creative customers are and which outcome will show up if all start with the Sam given card. All I asked for was the Dr. J in this pose and a red-white-blue ABA Ball in color. To my knowledge until today a unique “challenge” in the custom basketball cards world. I like what kind of ideas became reality. And it was perfect to celebrate Dr. J’s 75th birthday on February 22nd 2025. That’s the reason I did not show the cards earlier. Enjoy the 10 creations! #juliuserving #ababasketball

@garciastudios From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was one of the first Custom Artists I contacted. And he liked the idea. He chooses a kind of outer space but shows at the same time a kind of game scene the Doctor is floating through. He is very productive. Was not easy to find the card which was created in July 2023. But rest assured his Instagram side is more than just worth a visit. @sharkbaitcustom Top Quality 1 of 1 creator. Unique experience creator. 100% Handcrafted art pieces. Could not find the Dr. on his Instagram side. But he created a unique atomic refractor like, Dr. J Card has some layers and the Dr. airs in front of a kind of exploding star, to me kind of “trademark” of the shark. @firstlife_customs Based in Germany Mark and I met by chance during one of my rare visits to @BBrothersstore. He was one of my first contacts and the first live contact regarding custom cards. A few “Hulk” and “One Piece” cards as well as one of the rare “Dennis Schröder” custom cards immediately changed hands. We stayed in touch and created an “ABA / Johnny Neumann / Saturn Cologne” basketball custom card together (will is already posted as a video at @BBrotherstore and my Instagram side). He was enthusiastic about my idea that various artists create a Dr. J Custom Card and all based on the “2008 Upper Deck Starquest SQ-10 Julius Erving”. And he delivered…. Based on the theme of the underlying card, a “Starquest”, he sent the Dr. with a lot of depth into space. A true star journey or in another word: A Starquest! @ljs-sportscards He announces himself as “Special Ed teacher making custom cards! Let me know what I can make for you and check out my work below or on my website”. I took his word and got a fantastic (and the only) Dr. J custom patch card. If you get such a beauty in this context you do not worry about game worn or not. You are just happy to admire this piece of art. I could not find the card within his Instagram posts. He obviously is more in Football and Baseball. But I remember that he, like a few others, enjoyed the idea of creating a kind of vintage card. Playing with an red-white-blue ABA ball and a retired player. The 1970s are kind of history now. @thecardcarver <https://www.instagram.com/thecardcarver/?hl=de> Living in Maine, USA, he created the card about March 2024. The Carver describes himself and his work / Busines as • ART DEALER / Künstler (artist) /in • 💀LUXURY NO$TALGIA💀 • CGC/JSA,PSA,ARENA CLUB,BGS CERTIFIED • CALL THEM PIECES • OG ART DEALER • NO COLLABS 🙅‍♂️ • MIXED MEDIA/AI He quoted Andy Warhol and his 1983 Brooklyn Bridge. By doing he built a bridge between art and the part of life the Dr. was in at the time. Pic shows him as a player of the New York Nets. We had some nice conversations and I got some other artwork cards from him. He is somehow connected to Germany. He met Kiki and Ivan, the @BBrothersstore at the National. Especially he is friend with Ivan @artistbullshit. A artist too, so they are brothers in mind. @laurengoeshere -Stitcher/Collector/Writer -Classically trained over-thinker -Hand embroidered cards My card is not shown on her Instagram side as well as not shown on her Website - o.k. on the Website are slides for NBA and WNBA only, no ABA 😊 Lauren is an American artist specializing in needlepoint. She has many years of experience in cross stitch, embroidery, and needlepoint designs. Currently, she is working on hand-embroidering trading cards of little to no monetary value, and converting them into one-of-one pieces of art. Combining the traditionally female driven art of needlepoint with the majority male driven activity of card collecting, Lauren explores the dynamics in and around the card collecting and sports communities. Her work was shown at the 2023 Intersect Palm Springs Art Fair in the “Art But Make It Sports” by LJ Rader exhibit. Since January 2024, she has been a writer for <https://www.hobbynewsdaily.com/profile/lauren/profile> Hobby News Daily and in September 2024 she began writing for <https://www.si.com/collectibles/author/lauren-rizzo> Collectibles on SI. First I became aware of her seeing a “Dennis Rodman JJVinty colab” from 2022. She added on the card with little stitches the typical Rodman colorful hairdo. And she was so nice to do the same and more with the Dr. J. Watch the back of the card to get an impression what special an precise work of art she creates. The hair, the ball and the ABA in the back are stitched!
