What do I make as a physio?

Not everything worth measuring shows up in numbers.

Sometimes it looks like creating a space where an athlete feels heard, feels stronger, and slowly starts trusting their body again.

Those changes may not show up on a test or a spreadsheet, but they matter just as much. 🤍

Plot twist: you are not your torn ACL. 🙃

I've been a physio for a while, and here's what I see every week: people walk in and introduce themselves by their injury. "Hi, I'm the rotator cuff in room 3." Nope. You're a whole human who happens to have a cranky joint.

Swipe for your friendly reminders:
→ You're not "the injured one." You're a person temporarily held together by ice packs and stubbornness
→ Healing isn't linear. Some days you're a comeback story, some days you're arguing with a flight of stairs (and the stairs are winning)
→ Rest isn't laziness. Your body is literally doing renovations, so let the builders work
→ Your personality wasn't stored in your shoulder (I've checked, repeatedly)
→ Your physio is on your side. Yes, even during the exercises you hate

The best recoveries I see aren't always the fastest ones. They're from people who stay curious, keep their sense of humour, and remember they're more than a diagnosis.

💬 Tell me one thing about you that your injury can't touch. Bonus points for the most dramatic stair-related story.

Fear doesn’t leave first. It never has for me.

Learning a headstand. Running intervals again after my back injury, with the fear of the pain coming back sitting right there with me.

Not pretending I’m not scared. Doing it anyway .

As part of #DoItAnyway with @theperformancedr, this mental health day: what’s the thing you’re doing despite the fear ?

@dancerdeepthi, @anoushkaacharya , your turn ! Share it with us..

Sports Psychology or Exercise Psychology which one do you actually need? 🌀

Two fields that get used interchangeably but exist for completely different reasons.

Sports psychology exists to help you win. It’s for the athlete who freezes before the penalty kick pressure, focus, competition, nerves.

Exercise psychology exists to help you show up. It’s for the person who quits the gym by day 5 ,motivation, habits, mood, body image.

One is about performance. The other is about consistency. Most people need a bit of both, but rarely at the same time.

Swipe through the storytime ➡️

Which one do you need right now? Comment “performance” or “consistency” below.

DM me to schedule a 1-1 consultation with Bala Ramaswamy, Sports Psychologist Chennai.

📌 Save this if you’ve never known the difference.

In elite sport today, recovery is much more complex than that; it is planned, monitored and treated as part of training itself. Training creates the stimulus, and recovery is where your body actually adapts.

Injury Psychology | Part 3: Return to Play 👀🏏

Returning to sport isn’t just about being physically ready.

You may have completed your rehab, regained strength, and been cleared to play but trusting your body again is a different part of the comeback.

The questions can still be there:

“Will it hurt again?”
“What if I get injured?”
“Can I trust my body like before?”
“What if I’m not the same player?”

Return to play is also about rebuilding confidence, trust, focus and readiness one step at a time.

Because coming back isn’t simply about getting back on the field.
It’s about feeling ready to compete again. 🧠🏃‍♀️

This is Part 3 of our Injury Psychology series, focusing on the mental side of Return to Play.

If you’re an athlete navigating an injury or struggling with the mental side of your comeback, DM me to schedule a 1–1 consultation.
