Before I share my next season of performances, I need to take a VERY OVERDUE minute to honor what an incredible team I worked with last November on La Traviata with Kentucky Opera! @kyopera 🪩✨ How lucky am I to have worked with this team of hardworking, thoughtful, insanely talented creatives (led by an ALL-FEMALE directorial team, which is badass!).

Oh my dear Flora, I can’t wait to step into your shoes again soon! You were an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, and I loved it all. Major props to Sable Strout (@sablestrout), who took a character that can be performed similarly across productions and challenged us to think deeper, bigger, and funnier with her beautiful vision for this show. 🥂

Every time I get to work with this great company, I leave feeling transformed and so fulfilled. I can’t wait for the next time!! ❤️

Thank you again to ALL of these amazing people below (and our wonderful chorus, who I didn’t have space to name here!! 🎶), and to Katie Scoone and Andrew Kung Group LLC for these magnificent photos! 📸

Little is known about the Austro-Bavarian composer and pianist Alfred Schnitzker (1894–1951).

Born in southern Bavaria to a musical family, his mother was a Turkish percussionist and his father an amateur organist at the Lutheran church of St. Gumbertus.

Schnitzker demonstrated an early aptitude for music, composing his first melodies at the piano at the age of eleven. He spent much of his early career as a répétiteur at the local Hochschule für Unglaublich Schnelles Tanzen while teaching piano to the children of minor nobility.

Although Schnitzker considered composition his true vocation, his surviving output is remarkably small. One persistent account claims that a particularly severe lesson with Richard Strauss in 1918 convinced the young composer to conceal nearly all of his manuscripts from the public.

The works that remain reveal an eclectic musical language, blending the martial sonorities associated with the Janissary bands of his mother’s Turkish heritage with the brash wave of late German Romanticism.

Grand Night 34 has truly been one for the books. ✨

Working with this incredibly talented group of performers has been life changing for me. Every year, I find myself wondering how I was fortunate enough to be cast alongside such remarkable talent. Each of you holds a special place in my heart, and I will cherish these memories forever.

Together, we told a story of resilience, hope, and perseverance. We pray that this year’s production left you feeling inspired to keep fighting, keep believing, and keep hope alive.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, cheered us on, and joined us on this journey. Until next time, Grand Night. ❤️🎭
