Keep hitting your forehand drive into the net? Check where your paddle finishes. 👀🏓

There are several reasons a pickleball drive can fall short, but one common pattern I see in beginners is a low follow-through—finishing around elbow height.

For a beginner working on a low-to-high forehand drive, try this cue: finish up near your opposite shoulder.

Here’s why 👇
A shoulder-high finish encourages your paddle to travel forward AND upward through contact. That upward swing path helps produce topspin, allowing you to aim with more clearance over the net while helping the ball dip back into the court.

The key detail: your finish doesn’t change the ball after it leaves your paddle. It’s a cue for the swing path THROUGH contact—the part that actually matters.

If you’re swinging too flat or downward, forcing a high finish afterward won’t fix it. Start below the ball, swing forward and up, and let the finish happen naturally. ✅

Save this for your next practice and follow for more pickleball technique, drills, and coaching tips!
