The Gathering truly is the Magic! Had a fantastic day yesterday at the Barbecube organised by @commandersarsenal. Two rounds of commander cube draft and a barbecue (gotta love a good vegan burger or sausage).

But the best thing was meeting and playing with cool people!

MagicCon was echt fan-tas-tisch! Het is zo mooi om te zien hoe hecht onze community is 🥰

Het is vrijwel onmogelijk om alle highlights te delen, dus hebben wij geprobeerd een selectie te maken. Heel erg bedankt naar iedereen die ook naar onze mini meetups zijn gekomen!

En volgend jaar mogen wij het weer dunnetjes over doen, want dan is MagicCon gewoon weer in Amsterdam 😱

MagicCon Amsterdam 2026 was everything

Seeing old friends and making new. Playing games, finding my chase card Kokusho, staying up late on the very last night drafting Mystery Booster 2 in the bar on the 24th floor of a hotel, and much, much more.

Seeing so many people gathered in one place to celebrate a game we all love, that connects us, feels special. That's what The Gathering means. And we get to do it again in Amsterdam next year.

I can't wait. 💜

There it is. 🥹 The memories slowly sinking in now I’ve awoken from this fever dream.

1 That’s me hosting my Cube thing! I had just a four hour time slot but I ended up doing the Cube full weekend, pretty much nonstop 😩❤️‍🔥

I was always intrigued by test cards but these seem to have flown under the radar! I think they’re a great find, so I’m sharing these SIX cards that were never printed with you! 😱

Which one do you think should have been printed? 👀

Rabid Chihuahua seems like a very Mark Rosewater card as he always tried to find ways to get poison into a set. In Scars of Mirrodin, he finally did! Phyrexian Swarmlord kind of feels like a descendant of Rabid Chihuahua 👌

In the caption I wrote ‘venom counters’ but it’s ‘poison counters’. 13 hour workday, no breaks and then recording and editing a video at night, I surely will leave some errors. Spot them all! 😆🙌

Last week’s card: Shivan Dragon! 🐉

Many players at the time hated the new art in 7th edition because they were so attached to the original 90s versions by Melissa Benson. It took a few years for Donato’s “realistic” dragon to win the community over!

This Seventh Edition art features a massive oil on panel painting. Famous for the translucency of the wings: the sunlight passes right through the red membranes!

Donato Giancola’s art is still the standard for Shivan Dragon and an icon in its own right as it’s available even in the recent Foundations set (2024)! 🙏

@thepinline and me are testing the waters for a returning ‘Guess that Card’ challenge!

Each week we’ll post a classic Magic the Gathering card with iconic art and give you a few days to guess the artwork. Then each new post, we’ll show you the full card and drop a new challenge!

We might even do some trivia about the revealed card if we have something worthwhile on it 😎🙏 In time, we might update and clean up the format.
