What a day filled with photography, artistic connections, and community! I was grateful for the opportunity to explore three different photography exhibitions alongside my photography class @thepointcdc and be able to share in the experience of learning and discovering new insights through the power of the photographic image. The featured exhibitions included:
“I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now”, located at @icp
*
“Where to From Here?”, a solo exhibition by Azikiwe Mohammed, located at @baxterstccny
*
“Gordon Parks: Voices in the Mirror”, located at @jackshainman

For generations, Hunts Point families have lived with the consequences of diesel truck pollution while our community serves as the backbone of New York City's food system.

That's why I'm excited to see @cityharvestnyc roll out three new electric trucks through The Bronx Is Breathing initiative, bringing cleaner air to our neighborhoods while expanding food deliveries to Bronx families.

As a frontline environmental justice community, this is exactly the kind of investment our Bronx families deserve. 💚

🔷 LIGHT IT UP 🔷

BX! UPTOWN! Mile Style & @inwoodrunclub are back at it for our annual GLOW IN THE DARK 5k! If you’ve joined us in the past for one of these, you know how electric the energy gets when runners from the most thorough borough link up with one of Uptown, USA’s finest crews for a night of bright lights & fun vibes!

Expect light up foam tubes for all in attendance, along with other glow-in-the-dark accessories to keep you lit all night long. Have gear that lights up? Bring it! The more lit, the better! Still working on some fun extras for the night, so keep eyes and ears peeled.

📍UPDATE! This will be a point-to-point run ending at the Bronx Drafthouse (@bxdrafthouse). So make sure to bring your pennies for the food and drinks! And yes, we will have mobile bag check!

So get up, lace up and run up. IT’S TIME TO LIGHT IT UP! DEETS BELOW:

This summer I had the honor of being chosen to create a collaborative public art projection about Spofford Juvenile Detention Center with a teen apprentice. (SWIPE TO SEE THE VISION OF MY AMAZING APPRENTICE➡️➡️➡️) The process of creating this work touched and changed me in so many ways and so it is with great pleasure that I invite you next Sat 10/24 for a FREE “community joy” family day at @bronxmuseum @legalaidnyc with hands on artmaking, children’s book giveaways + join a community conversation on “Art + Justice: envisioning the Bronx we want to build” where I will be talking about the thoughts and development behind the pieces.

Stick around to celebrate with us from 5-7 with free food, drinks and music by Bronx DJ Collective “Sounds Good”!! For more info and to learn more: https://bit.ly/BronxJoyJustice

I also want to take this moment to shout out @bronxartspace (especially Beverly!) @inspirationpoint.arts and @thepointcdc @careyclark.clark for the organization and partnership on this project. It was only through working together that this work was made possible to begin with. It feels special that such work made with so many 💥BRONX💥 hands is now being presented at The Bronx Museum.
