I’d just like the world to know that @therachaelferrera is one of the most incredible human beings I’ve ever had the privilege to meet/call a friend. I think about memories we shared and I just start laughing. Ah, so many laughs 🤣🤭🕺WE LOVE YOU, RACHAEL! 💕

today is myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) awareness day - a day to uplift our experiences, listen to us, advocate for us, and campaign for change.

but this should be happening every day, because ME is continuing to ruin millions of people's lives. yet it remains one of the most underfunded & understudied diseases despite 1 in 4 people with ME being severe - completely bedbound and reliant on 24/7 care.

💭 in this post, i talk about what ME is and what you can do to support us. if this is your first time hearing about this disease, or you want to know more, please learn from the charities & research centres on slide 14 and creators that i have tagged on slide 15!

sending so much love to everyone with ME today or to people with a loved one with ME. living with this disease is so difficult & we deserve to be heard. 💙

(all info in this post is from the mentioned organisations & the NHS!)

Tag any other POC with ME that you know in the comments, or yourself!! And please be sure to listen to their experiences and reshare their content, especially adding their posts to your story. This goes for all of the time, not just ME awareness month

The 3rd December is ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’. I want to highlight those of us living with ME/CFS and Long Covid, especially those who suffer severely and don’t have the capacity to share their voice.

MEAction launched the #MillionsMissing movement to demand equality from our governments for M.E. in research, clinical care and support. The #MillionsMilling represents the millions of people missing from their lives due to ME, missing their careers, time with family and friends and missing simple pleasures like sitting in the sun or taking a walk. The pandemic has been devastating for our community, quadrupling the number of people with ME as the majority of people develop ME following an infectious trigger such as a virus.
