A Céilí is for everyone 💚 Join us as we team up with brilliant live band Saltcutters for a joyful fundraiser Céilí at St Bride’s Church in Liverpool.

For us, this evening is about much more than learning the steps. In the old spirit of the word Céilí (neighbour, visit, gathering), it’s a chance to come together, dance, share food and celebrate the things that connect us.

Expect dances and tunes from Ireland, England, Scotland and beyond, alongside stories of how music and dance travel, adapt and change as people and cultures meet.

Never danced a Céilí? No problem. No experience or partner needed, and everyone is welcome to dance whichever role feels right for them. Our calling is gender-free too, so you might hear “larks and robins” or “ones and twos” rather than “ladies and gents”.

Come and dance with us 💃🏽🕺🏽 We’re joining forces with brilliant live band Saltcutters for a joyful, next-generation Céilí at St Bride’s Church in Liverpool.

A little Pudsey Couture update 💛✨

What started as an idea is slowly becoming a dress filled with real people, stories and hope.

Fabrics and clothing are arriving at the boutique, the amazing children at Chillie Kids Club in London have been creating pieces for the gown, our fundraiser has passed £200, work has officially begun on the dress itself, and today another story joined the project with a visit to The Reader in Liverpool.

There is still so much to do, but seeing all of these individual contributions beginning to come together is incredibly special.

Reading kan arrangeras.

🌏It was World Mental Health Day on Saturday, and to celebrate, we've got something very special to share:

🌪Two best friends. Two hidden battles. Autumn hasn't even had time to grieve her dad's death, and now her mum has moved her new boyfriend—the Idiot From the Petrol Station—into their home.

🌫As her old life disappears, a heavy darkness starts to set in. Meanwhile, Austin is doing everything he can to keep it together as his home life unravels. Trapped by his dad's destructive habits, his anxiety is quickly spiralling out of control. They used to tell each other everything. Now, they're both fighting silent battles right next to each other.

🌦When the weight becomes too much to carry alone, help arrives from the most unexpected places. But saving themselves means making the hardest choice of all: letting someone in.

🤝'Gate @ Eight' was created in an unconventional way:
Author Vicky Martin worked with a dedicated group of year 7, 8 and 9 students from Kirkby High School to create a YA story centred around two friends who struggle in different ways with their mental health.

✍The best way to understand what teens are going through is to hear from them directly and allow them to tell their own stories. Fiction was our vehicle for doing this.

🌈An immense thank you to @readingagency and @knowsleycouncil for facilitating this project. It could not have been done without you.

😊We are so excited to see the impact of this story and for it to be in readers' hands on 18th March 2027. It's available for pre-order now on our site and will be a Living Book on our bibliotherapy platform after release.

This morning, Jonny and I visited some very special people - the wonderful ‘knitting’ ladies who previously supported our Bombed Out Church project by making the most beautiful scarves.
We caught up on all things Kindness Rocks®, and I shared a little video with them showing some of the things we’ve been up to recently.

Another Creative Reset has come to an end, but what a bloody good time we had!

I love hosting this event and seeing everyone reconnect to their creativity over the course of the day.

We laughed, we played, we wrote, we ate, we reflected, and we connected.

Thank you to everyone who came and embraced the day.

Special thanks also to @seriouslaughter.uk for delivering a laughter yoga session for us in the morning to shake off the nerves and get into the zone, and to the team at @thereaderorg for looking after us and keeping us fed throughout the day!

There’s LOADS to do during October in Liverpool 😍

River of Light is back, Halloween is bringing lots of spooky fun, our theatres are packed with entertainment and we’ve even got a new ferry to experience.

2 weeks ago, I had the pure joy of being Rachael and Linda’s wedding celebrant— and I’m still not over it. 💖

An outdoor wedding was planned @thereaderorg but the weather had other ideas. It bucketed down. All. Day.

So we found ourselves inside, with the gorgeous garden as our backdrop and the magical sound of rain absolutely chucking it down outside.

There were SO. MANY. EMOTIONS. Boxes of tissues were soaked. There were those lovely little moments where everyone in the room seemed to forget to breathe for a second. And there were the howls of laughter.

The bridal party made their entrance to @vickyreidmusic playing the Jurassic Park theme tune (BTW, Rachael was picked up in THE JEEP 🚙😂).

There was their handfasting, with colours specially chosen to represent the people they carry with them. Cans of JD and Coke were popped open and raised to Rachael’s dad, John — such a lovely, emotional wee moment.

And then, after all the tears and laughter, they walked back down the aisle to Sunchyme by Dario G — and the whole room erupted. It was heaven.

This was a wedding of:

✨ laughter
✨ tears
✨ ridiculous moments
✨ people travelling from all over the world to be there
✨ two families and two lives coming together

And Rachael and Linda, right at the heart of it all, looking absolutely STUNNING and buzzing with elation — with the rain making sure your knot can never be untied. 🌧️

I always smile when I think about you both, and I’m so thankful for the friendship I built with you while planning your ceremony.

Thank you for trusting me with your story, for letting me tell it in a way that felt completely you, and for giving me one of those ceremonies I know I’ll remember for a very, very long time.

Go maire sibh bhur saol úr. 🤍

Here’s to your new life together — filled with love, laughter, adventures, “cultural immersion”, craft beer and, almost certainly, more cats!

And I hope Herbie the Tortoise is all settled in! 🐢🍻
