POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We were quite fortunate to be invited to join a crew that has been exploring and putting up new routes in a remote part of the Wind River Range in Wyoming. The team has switched faces over the years but have consistently established some bold and stunning routes. However, it is an “Advanced” area due to a slew of factors. The 10 mile approach to basecamp still leaves you about 3 hours from the Cirque proper and involves complex cross-country navigation and increasing danger in the upper talus slopes. The setting is awe inspiring, but loose blocks and flakes abound and the area is still quite raw. We chose a relatively small objective that was unnamed and unclimbed. We dubbed it Little Italy and established Spaghetti Western 5.9 (5.8R) in 6 pitches, but it could easily be done in 5. We also added three nut rap stations to get off, then returned to put up Via Abnormale 5.6R, that contained quite a bit of objective danger, but did have one absolutely stellar pitch near the end. The scant information available is primarily in the American Alpine Journal, and with the exception of the centerpiece route on the shield, this crew has done the remaining big objectives. Huge thanks goes out to @heath.rowland for the invite, along with @thereal_markevans @wilkinsonvisual @troutmanoriginal @socks_n_moccs and Matty G all of whom made the best part of the trip the hang. Our horse packing outfitter Garrett, got us in to basecamp and enabled Emma to complete her dream of riding through some of the most impressive and expansive land we have ever experienced. #tent @edelrid_sport

Fog of Uncertainty. A really fun climb on featured rock. Tyler Philips and I put it up 2 weeks ago in some very uncertain weather conditions.
Mark clipping his way up for the 3rd ascent.
#somewhereincolorado jk, its on the proj. Under Winter Wall in the northern swell.

In the process of the FA we coreshot our rope (as well as my jacket) on some sharp edges (which have now been “comfortized”) Mark here is climbing on the Eagle Lite Protect, with an extra layer of aramid in the sheath, it greatly reduces the chances of cutting the sheath on sharp edges, like we did previously.
