🏀 One of the best ways to improve your ball handling? DRIBBLE TWO BASKETBALLS! But there’s an even bigger lesson we try to teach our boys through these drills. At this stage in your life, it’s OKAY to make mistakes! You’re young. You’re learning. You’re going to mess up, lose the ball, and struggle with things that feel impossible at first. And that’s exactly what we WANT! Working with two basketballs forces you outside your comfort zone. You’re going to make mistakes, but the key is to keep picking up the ball, trying again, and getting better every single time. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Be afraid of never challenging yourself enough to make them. 💪🏀 #ReadyToBall #RTB #BasketballTraining #PlayerDevelopment #BallHandling

Don’t choose your yeshiva or seminary just because your friends are going there! 🚨 One of the biggest mistakes students make when choosing a program in Israel is putting too much emphasis on where their friends are going instead of focusing on what’s actually right for THEM. Remember, you’re going to have plenty of opportunities to see your friends throughout the year! Between Fridays, Shabbosim, and visiting other programs, you’ll still be able to spend time together. If your friends happen to be going to the program that’s the best fit for you, amazing! But if not, don’t let that be a deal breaker. This is YOUR year in Israel. Make sure you’re choosing a place where YOU can grow, thrive, and get the most out of the experience! 🇮🇱 #IsraelGapYear #Yeshiva #Seminary #GapYear #YearInIsrael

🏀 Why do we do two-ball drills at RTB? Especially with our older players, we intentionally incorporate challenging, complex drills that push them outside their comfort zones. The goal isn’t just to get better at dribbling two basketballs. It’s to challenge your mind, improve your coordination, and develop confidence handling the basketball under pressure. Think about it: If you can learn to control TWO basketballs through complex drills, imagine how much easier controlling ONE basketball can become. When the pressure is on in a real game, we want our players to feel comfortable because they’ve already challenged themselves to do something even harder in practice. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. That’s how you grow. 💪🏀 #ReadyToBall #RTBBasketball #PlayerDevelopment

Not sure which gap year program is right for you? Try this. 👇 Take out a blank piece of paper and write down what your IDEAL year in Israel would look like. What time are you waking up? How much are you learning? What kind of trips are you going on? What does your daily schedule look like? Once you have that written down, start comparing it to different programs. You’re probably not going to find a perfect match, but you’ll have a much better idea of what you’re actually looking for. The goal isn’t to find the perfect program. It’s to find the right program for YOU. 🇮🇱

What do you actually want to gain from your year in Israel? 🇮🇱 Before you start looking at specific yeshivas or seminaries, take some time to think about what you want to accomplish during your year. Once you have a clear idea of what you’re hoping to gain, it becomes a whole lot easier to figure out which program will help you get there. The goal isn’t just to find a great program. It’s to find the right program for YOU.

When I was 8 years old, my mom passed away. My dad could’ve let me bottle everything up. Instead, he put a basketball in my hands. That became my outlet. My therapy. My escape. My confidence. Basketball didn’t just teach me how to play — it helped shape who I became. That’s a big reason why I started RTB. Because every kid deserves somewhere to put their energy, their pain, their emotions… and turn it into something positive. For me, it was a ball. For them, it can be too. 🏀

Before you start asking yourself WHICH Yeshiva or Seminary you want to go to, you need to ask yourself a much more important question… WHY do I want to spend a year in Israel? 🇮🇱 Once you understand your WHY, you can start figuring out what you actually want to gain from your year. And once you know that, finding the right program becomes a whole lot easier. Don’t start with where you want to go. Start with why you want to go. That’s step one. 🎯 #IsraelGapYear #Yeshiva #Seminary #GapYear

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” I’ve always believed that this saying couldn’t be further from the truth. Our words have tremendous power. And unfortunately, when we get angry, we often say things out of frustration that we end up regretting later. In a recent RTB shmooz, we spoke about the middah of anger and how important it is to control not just our emotions, but the words that come out of our mouths. The next time you find yourself getting angry, remember that words can leave a lasting impact. Think before you speak. Once the words come out, you can’t take them back. 💯 #ReadyToBall #MoreThanBasketball #LifeLessons

Defense is about making the offense uncomfortable. If a player wants to go right, force him left. If he wants his strong hand, make him use his weak hand. Don’t let the person you’re guarding dictate what happens. Take away what they’re comfortable doing and force them into something they’re not. That’s when mistakes happen. That’s when you get stops. A simple defensive concept we make sure our guys understand at RTB.
