🔥 STOP. DROP. ROLL.

Some of the wisest words served to me during my Autism late diagnosis came from my longtime friend and fellow AuDHDer, Jamie:

📣 "Chrissy. Stop. Drop. Roll."

He drilled it into me until it stuck.

💨 Now I know my smoke alarms:

🔥 My voice gets crackly.
🔥 Executive function starts going offline.
🔥 Decision-making disappears.
🔥 Sleep goes to 💩
🔥 Fatigue and migraines land.

💨 That's when I know it's time to:

✋ STOP adding more.

⬇️ DROP whatever can wait.

🔄 ROLL towards whatever helps my nervous system regulate (usually time spent in the Goblin Cave 👺🕳).

➡️ The sooner I do it, the sooner my brain, body and nervous system comes back online.

➡️ Better "Stop, drop & roll" than pushing myself towards a migraine, meltdown, shutdown or complete burnout.

🔥 It's been one of my top survival skills of late diagnosis.

🙏So this one's a big thanks to Jamie, who's said these words to me approximately 10,000 times these past 3 years and helped teach me the permission I needed to give myself.

His latest project @boslyaccord is set to launch and its a system he's created himself, to help his ND ar$e run his own business.

Its going to help so many people in the neurodivergent community and I couldn't be prouder of him and his work.

🔥 Learn to recognise your nervous system smoke alarms, Punk, because it just might save you.

🛑 What's your first sign that tells you it's time to STOP?

📆 Structure isn't just about colour-coded calendars and routines.

🐙 For myself and other sensitive neurotypes I speak to, it's one of the ways that helps us to stay regulated.

🛠 Before perimenopause, I'd built my life with routines around things that were a foundation I could rely on.

💪🏿 Sleep, energy, fitness, work, rest, all relied on a certain predictability.

💥 Then perimenopause walloped, or as I'm now referring to it...

📣 "Neuropause" because it's, it's own kettle of fish, and god damn it, it certainly deserves to be researched. 📣

⬆️ #ThatsMyRant ⬆️

Anyway, over time, and also suddenly somehow all at once, nothing can be banked on.

💅 Some mornings you wake up feeling like yourself.

🧠 The next, your brain and body decided to quietly rewrite the rules overnight and f🤘cks 💩 up.

Traditional perimenopause is often described as being "unpredictable."

But for an autistic person, unpredictability isn't just frustrating, it's deeply dysregulating.

🛠 The foundations you've spent decades building to stay steady, and to keep yourself afloat begin shifting beneath your feet.

⬇️ One of the hardest parts of the late diagnosis neuropause experience is:

💥You can't force your way back to the old version of yourself. It's completely unattainable.

➡️ There has to come a point where you stop trying to control the 💩storm and start looking for ways to best move through it.

🛠 That's one of the reasons we're building the @neuropausecollective

💨 Because when your own predictability disappears, being understood by people who recognise the experience, and who are going through it alongside you...

🐙 Becomes one of the few steady things left.

🫂We are you, and we are living it with you.

🐙 Different arms. One movement.

📣 Sometimes a single sentence helps decades finally make sense...

📣 And suddenly, the story you've been telling yourself changes.

Red Punk Social isn't here just to sell t-shirts...

It was started to create the conversations many of us have spent our entire lives trying to have, without ever having the words for them.

If this message found you...

Maybe that's not an accident.

🤘 Stay Punk AF out there.

One recent article in the British press really boiled my piss...

Ironic that at the time it came out, I was in a burnout episode from being an ADHD, Autistic person in perimenopause with Hashimotos and all the other "collected Smurfs" that have come screaming to the fore in midlife.

📣 I will be clear here, and say, that these "Smurfs" were and have always been there. They were a genetic win from both my parents. ✅️🏆

While every cell in my body was in full "frazzle-dazzle" mode, preventing me from moving, working and earning money - yes, I had to call in sick for my AuDHD...

It reminded me just how often people with complex neurotypes and bodies are asked to choose one explanation for experiences that rarely arrive one at a time.

Living in this body has taught me very different.

My Autism doesn't disappear.

My ADHD doesn't disappear and because I'm in perimenopause...

📣 SYMPTOMS FROM BOTH NEUROTYPES ARE WORSE.📣 Disabling so.

My Hashimoto's doesn't take a day off either, because I'm burnt out.

It's highly likely, contributing to it.

My ADHD doesn't clock off because I've got a migraine.

Life doesn't happen in neat little boxes.

Neither do our bodies.

For years, so many of us have had to become the investigator, trying to piece together what our bodies are telling us while navigating healthcare systems that are often under enormous pressure themselves.

What I've learnt is this:

Curiosity will always get us further than, dare I say, "lazy" assumptions.

Whether we're talking about ADHD, hormones, thyroid disease, burnout, or anything else... people deserve to be listened to, taken seriously, and seen as a whole person rather than a single symptom or diagnosis.

Because sometimes the answer isn't in the either/or.

Sometimes it's the collision of all of them.

🤘 I see you, I am you. Stay MF disruptive AF.

📣 Get heard. You deserve to be.
