Building the AI systems my ADHD Brain always needed. Learning out loud as i go
Jess the Mess since birth..turns out the mess just needs better systems
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
HeyGen has been in my DMs harder than any man ever has, begging me to make an AI version of myself. So I finally looked at what they actually want me to do.

 It’s me. Flirting. With me.

That’s not a subscription — that’s another twenty years of therapy I can’t afford.

Hard pass. 🫠

There is no need to remind me of the years I spent vegan — I remember them well.

I just missed the broader picture.

“AI is killing the planet” is this year’s favourite headline — usually typed on a phone, in air-conditioning, after a beef dinner.

So let’s actually do the maths.

AI’s footprint is real, and I won’t pretend otherwise. But scale is the whole story:

⚡ Google’s 2025 production data puts a median AI text prompt at 0.24 watt-hours — less energy than nine seconds of TV — and roughly five drops of water. Even critics who say the real water figure is higher land somewhere tiny.

👕 One cotton t-shirt takes ~2,700 litres of water. That’s more than tens of thousands of AI prompts — on the estimate least flattering to AI.

❄️ By 2030, air-conditioning and electric cars are each set to add more new electricity demand than the world’s entire data-centre sector (IEA).

We’ve done this before. It was beef (~99kg CO₂ and ~15,400L of water per kilo — real, and the one food we love to point at). It was cotton (the Aral Sea, once the world’s 4th-largest lake, drained to a salt desert). It was fish (35.5% of stocks overfished). It’s the bread on your plate (the food system is ~a quarter of global emissions).

My point is virtue and accuracy aren’t the same thing. Outrage at whatever’s trending — while you consume ten things with bigger footprints — isn’t ethics. It’s a feeling that skipped the maths.

Judge the full footprint. Improve every system.

Scapegoat none.

Save this for the next time someone points at your plate. 👇

Ill just be over here learning outloud with @ai_herway

Vibe-coded a whole system. Watched it work. Had absolutely no idea why it was working.

Which is the actual problem, because "have a working thing" was never the goal — understanding it was. So I made Sonnet sit me down and explain my own build back to me like I'm ten.

Still not fully there. But at least I know what I don't know now. by @therealchaosarchitect

Every neurospicey brain I know building with AI right is running on the same fuel: dopamine, urgency, and a low hum of "i should already know this by now."

Last Tuesday I built three automations, forgot lunch, and called it a flow state.

It wasnt. It was a dopamine bender with a laptop.

So i gave myself a governing rule - two hours of AI a day, no exceptions.

I feel like a kid who just had their screen time capped.

Fair Call.

Filed under things tech bros swore would be easy.

It was not easy.

I’m on iteration four of Magic, my AI household brain, and stuff is still falling through the cracks. So Magic’s in the naughty corner now. It has to explain exactly what it did, every single time, and show me the receipts before it earns any more trust. Handholding isn’t a failure, it’s the whole point right now.

AI should never be set and forget, ask anyone over at the @ai_herway , they’ll back me up.

Same chaos, different day.

Spent the whole weekend building. Auditing. Refining

Woke up this morning to a red error message and the smug silence of a broken scenario.

And here’s the thing nobody tells you. When it breaks, no one is coming to fix it. It’s just me, a cup of cold coffee, and absolutely no idea which part fell over.

This is exactly why I keep banging on about learning the actual architecture. Not to sound clever. Because the day it breaks, and it always breaks, you’re the only one who can figure out what you built.

I don’t have a clue yet. That’s the update. Same chaos, different day.

People keep asking what Magic is.

The interface doesn’t matter. App, text, note on the fridge, who cares. That’s not the bit that makes this work.

It’s the memory. Magic is building a brain. It remembers Shi won’t eat onion. It remembers Bodhi can change what he eats between a Monday and a Wednesday and won’t explain himself. It remembers the pantry I filled Sunday is gone by Tuesday, who’s home, who’s at their dad’s, how the boys actually run.

And it keeps me on task, which if you’ve got ADHD and you’re doing the single mum thing solo, you’ll know is the hard part. It tells me when to do the groceries. What I’m cooking and why. Where, how, when. All the stuff that usually falls straight through my brain lands somewhere now.

The best part is it’s learning off me constantly. I tell it what worked, what flopped, what nobody touched, and it updates the recipe, the plan, the whole thing. Every week it knows us a bit better. It’s learning how I work and how I want it to work, and that’s what’s going to make it stick.

Fourteen years of planners asking me to become someone else first. This one just remembers who I already am.

Same chaos, different day.

I built an app to fix my grocery list and accidentally built a diary that reads and writes back to mw.

Two buttons. Magic if it’s food, Chaos if it’s everything else. You talk, it files, you forget about it.
Then I read the captures back and found “I cooked the boys dinner Bodhi didn’t like it I barely ate it” saved in there like a little confession.

And “Also remind” — remind about WHAT, I never finished the sentence.

It kept it anyway.

It also runs the fortnight shop now. $350 hard cap, built from what’s actually in the pantry, with a skip list of everything I own and keep buying regardless.

Same chaos, different day.

Everything you’re about to watch me tap through, I learned how to build inside @ai_herway

I walked in not knowing what an AI agent even was. Nici doesn’t teach you which app to press this week, she teaches you the architecture underneath it, so you can build the exact thing you need instead of the thing someone’s trying to sell you. That’s the only reason Magic exists.

That... and Siri did not work.

Here’s where the mental load manager actually landed. Magic is an app with two buttons. I talk to it, and it listens for three things: what’s in the pantry right now, whether the boys actually ate what I made, and any other mental dump i need to log for later

That goes straight into my pantry inventory in Notion, which updates my shopping list on its own. The list comes back to me in the app, so mid-shop I can see exactly what’s low instead of standing in the aisle trying to remember if we still have taco seasoning. It drops the shopping list into my calendar based on when we need to refill the pantry.

AND it’s quietly rebuilding my meal plan around what the boys will genuinely eat, not what I keep hoping they’ll eat.

Voice in. Pantry, list, calendar, meal plan out. Shopping list LIVE. No typing, no forgetting, no 9pm “what are we even eating tomorrow” spiral.

I forgot to write a caption three times while writing this caption. Which is on brand, honestly.

Here's where the Mental Load Manager is up to:
I now leave myself a voicemail instead of trying to hold "pantry, meal plan, shopping list" in my head at once.

An iOS Shortcut turns that voicemail into an Apple Note.
Claude reads the note, updates my pantry audit, builds the shopping list, and puts the meal plan and the list straight into my diary for me to action.

No app to abandon. No planner to feel guilty about by Wednesday.

Just me, talking nonsense into my phone, and a system quietly catching it.

Tested on my own chaos first. If it survives my brain, it'll survive yours. More from the lab soon.

What am i doing wrong here? Lets face it - its still amateur hour over here but surely 3 prompts shouldnt use all my credit?
Can anyone give me any tips? @ai_herway id love to hear your thoughts? by @therealchaosarchitect
