Scenario-based training @worldofselfdefence.
I waited for the right moment, intervened, and controlled the active threat.

What a tragedy it would be if I had to rely on someone else to feel safe.

When push comes to shove, do you want to be helpless? Do you want to be ill prepared for when expectations go awry?

It's not that difficult to get started.

The first step is not being where things go wrong.

The second is to not look like a victim. Know your worth and wear it on your sleeve. Be observant. Reap the hypertrophic benefits of your training.

The third is to be physically competent. You should be able to out muscle and apply your training to the real world. If you can't, see the application in your programming, it's a poor protocol.

The fourth is through skill acquisition. Find a contact hobby. Jiujitsu people are usually chill once you get past being the "trial guy/gal". Muay Thai people love nothing more than to share their sport with someone new. MMA people, though they may be scary looking, probably grew up on Power Rangers and are living out their childhood fantasies. Finding a place to train isn't hard. Finding community in those places isn't hard. Learning the arts aren't hard. Being consistent is.

If nothing else, wrestling with your friends is better than nothing. If every culture on Earth has figured it out, why can't you?

(or, better yet, snag some personal training from Invictus Training Methods)

Here’s a promo for us doing the USDC in 2013 - as you can see the production is improving because by this stage we had done it in its entirety 3 times plus each individual event countless numbers. @matt___clinton from reality check competed and created this clip. We had. 3 gyms locations prior to this so this was way after we began the process and started the refining. You will recognise a number of our awesome attackers and competitors too. These guys played a huge role in what it’s become.

Time to look at season 2, the women’s specific event! If you want to test yourself, nows the time! You don’t have to be a martial artist, just someone with an interest in safety! #wsdc #women #girls #selfdefence #selfdefense #martial arts #police #nurse #teacher #firefighter #crossfit #dance #whs

A little alternate angle from episode 5 of The World Of Self Defence Challenge.

Best practice when facing edged weapons is to just get out of there by any means necessary, no matter how good of a fighter or martial artists you are you will still get cut up. Keep up the cardio

This was the biggest moment in the entire series for me. A Filipino martial arts expert who trains with knives on the daily had this to say after the drill. Tune in to see what that drill was in ep 4! #selfdefense #selfdefence #westerncombatives #knife #fma #filipinomartialarts #escrima #kali @sarnokali_
