“Shy girl” for mCel. This ad won the hearts of Mozambique when it was launched. I shot it with a ARRI S16 and we used Kodak film. Grade was done by the super talented Paul Hanrahan @therefinery.post It also featured music by Lokua Kanza. It went on and won multiple gold awards in ad festivals. More importantly helped to build the brand love for Mozambique national operator. @golothinklocal #mozambique

CRAFTED is one of those projects that still makes me pinch myself. From the beginning, when project curator @marti_martins from @kaanarchitecten invited me to be part of their @minutes_series, throughout the process, to its life beyond, it has felt like an absolute dream. The MINUTES series: 12 filmmakers from across the world each made a film with an assigned KAAN Architecten building. The BRIEF: Pitch what you would like to make with it & we will pay you to make it. Complete trust. Being the only filmmaker from the African continent, with the Netherlands Embassy in Mozambique as my assigned building, I couldn’t ignore my instinct to use the opportunity to say something meaningful. To consider the human & not simply make a film for beauty’s sake. I was struck by my initial conversation with architect Vincent Panhuysen about the challenging building process 22 years earlier across continents. “The hands,” I kept thinking. All of those artisans & craftsmen. It gave me one clear visual direction. When filming people, I only filmed their hands, giving myself no escape from my objective. All this with my dearest filmmaker friend @annaletsteenkamp as witness & support by my side. With immense fortune, thanks to Martina, I got to interview legendary José Forjaz, Mozambique’s most prolific architect, about the process of creation. He gave me his blessing to use his words to craft the narrative I felt compelled to weave. Back in South Africa, I went into retreat at @therarelibrarian ‘s quiet home in a mountainous valley for 10 days to edit. Rarely coming up for air, I obsessively wove Forjaz’s words with visuals & samples for sound design until the final day, when I showed the edit to Juanita after a 3am breakthrough. She said “it’s perfect” & I stopped. With my favourite finishing collaborators, @stroobzz (colorist) & @form.police_official (sound design & final mix), we polished it to precision. Done. I still marvel at how pure it felt. To create with absolute trust & equal support in measure. To have travelled. To have experienced heart collaboration. This is when creation truly thrives.

JAIPUR 🇮🇳 | ART OF COLLABORATION There’s something pretty dope about bringing different creative worlds together and seeing what happens when everyone brings their own flavour to the table. I was grateful to be part of Art of Collaboration in Jaipur, bringing together some amazing brands, creatives and storytellers. We had the opportunity to stay and film at The Leela Palace Jaipur, and honestly, what a vibe. 😮‍💨 The architecture, colours, textures, details and natural light were giving us EVERYTHING. As a filmmaker, you walk into a place like this and your brain immediately starts seeing shots everywhere. 😂🎥 But beyond the location, the real magic was the collaboration. @artofcollaborationofficial Art of Collaboration @theleelapalace_jaipur @theleela @canonemeapro @canonrsa @canoncnafrica @motherkind @laud_beauty @bellagio_jewellers @capeisland @shadeandco.official Different people. 🐧🎬 THE WAIT IS OVER! Meet the official FAME Shorts Film Festival 2026 poster!   Bold. Playful. Quirky. And packed with personality. This year’s poster penguin artwork has a very special origin story.   Carousel 2 is the original penguin design created by Marley Schmidt, a first-year BA Animation student at SAE. Marley took our much-loved FAME Shorts penguin and gave him an entire film crew — creating Flip, our director penguin, and the wonderfully chaotic world around him.   What started with Marley’s original design and invention has gone on to inspire the entire FAME Shorts Film Festival 2026 branding. From the poster to the wider visual identity, his playful penguin world has become the creative foundation for this year’s festival.   Leading the charge is our director penguin, Flip, followed by a wonderfully chaotic crew of bright-eyed filmmakers marching along the beach, ready to show off their films.   The artwork captures everything we love about filmmaking — the excitement, the creativity, the personalities and, of course, the beautiful chaos that comes with getting a story onto the screen.   Look closely and you’ll spot penguins taking on different crew roles, each with their own personality and plenty of enthusiastic flipper waving. 🐧🎬   👉 Swipe through the carousel to read more about Marley, discover the story behind Carousel 2, and see how Flip came to life.   Official Film Selection coming soon! 🎬 FAME Shorts Film Festival 2026 📅 30 October – 1 November 2026 📍 The Rockefeller Hotel, Cape Town   The penguins are ready. There are stories that stay with you long after the camera stops rolling. @rassilasmotse_studios Ras Silas lost both of his parents to HIV/AIDS at a young age. Forced to grow up too soon, he turned unimaginable loss into something extraordinary. Today, his art is a testament to resilience, healing, and the incredible strength of the human spirit. This short documentary was commissioned by the Edmund Garwe Trust @egarwetrust whose work continues to support orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS. As a filmmaker, I don’t believe stories find me by chance. They remind me that while we cannot always choose what happens to us, we can choose how we respond. We can choose compassion. We can choose resilience. We can choose to heal. I’m honoured to share Ras’ story with you. Watch the full film via the link in my bio.
