I spoke at University College London #UCL during Black History Month, surrounded by Black and Brown academics, authors and entrepreneurs.

What connected us? Our lived experiences.

Every author had transformed their personal journey into books, businesses, advocacy and meaningful change within our communities.

OUR stories matter.

When we share our stories, we help others feel SEEN. HEARD. UNDERSTOOD.

Fellow speaker, Multi-Award-Winning Author and TEDx Speaker Pamela R Haynes @lovingtheauthor shared her powerful journey of starting over in her 50s, publishing several books, creating impact & receiving awards, including recognition at @prideofblackbritainawards

Midlife is NOT the end of our story.

My appreciation & huge thank you to Author and UCL Professor Victoria Showunmi, Award-Winning Entrepreneur and Author @sebrina1uk and Multi-Award-Winning Mental & Emotional Strategist, Author @kevin_bennett1 for bringing us together.

And to the remarkable Black authors creating lasting impact through their work: @leonmarshallonline @ryanleetherapy @detective_shabazz @krystatic @riamiaofficial @lindaonuekwa @garfieldatthevoice @makonnen.sankofa I salute all of you. 🎉👏🏾🔥

As we celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, remember:

Black history isn’t just what happened generations ago. It’s what we’re living, documenting, challenging and changing TODAY.

Our stories are not insignificant. They are evidence. They are education. They are our legacy.

𝐈’𝐦 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.🎉🇬🇧

I’m honoured to be invited by Healthcare Leader Prof. Dr. Juliet Hammond the Founder and Director of the Mount Moriah Foundation, to speak at the 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 in Kensington on Saturday 31 October.

I’ll be speaking on menopause and the Black & Brown woman’s experience — bringing the latest UK evidence into a conversation that remains central to my work in menopause equity.

The menopause conversation has grown.

But the equity gap remains.

My work continues to ensure that Black and Brown women are seen, heard and represented in the conversations shaping menopause education, workplace support and women’s health.

I’m looking forward to joining an incredible room of leaders, entrepreneurs, corporate professionals and changemakers across industries.

This is more than visibility.

It’s influence. It’s representation. It’s impact.

If you would like to attend the Mount Moriah Awards, The Relentless Boss™ has a limited number of ticket concessions available. DM me directly for details.

I’ve been offline for a minute because, quite frankly…

#perimenopause has been PERIMENOPAUSING. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

And let me tell you…she is very DISRESPECTFUL. 🙄

The memory lapses.
The forgetfulness.
The brain fog.
The anxiety.
The low energy.
The low mood.
The days when you genuinely wonder, “Is it just me, or am I losing my mind?” 🤯

And somehow, in the middle of all of that, life is still expecting you to SHOW UP.

Work.
Family.
Business.
Relationships.
Responsibilities.
Life be LIFEING. 😩

Midlife women are navigating THE greatest hormonal, reproductive and neurological transitional SHIFT that will alter us FOREVER — while still being expected to function as though nothing has or is changing.

And that’s the part we don’t talk about enough.

We may make perimenopause LOOK like light work…

But trust me, some days, the fact that we got dressed, showed up, smiled and kept going?

THAT is the miracle. 🙌🏾

Some days you win.
Some days you lose.
And some days you simply make it through.

This picture was taken on one of my winning days — celebrating my cousin Augustina and her groom Emmanuel at their beautiful traditional wedding 🇬🇭❤️

And honestly?

I know that every day I’m able to keep showing up, keep building, keep loving, keep laughing and keep moving forward…

It is only by His grace. ☝🏾🙌🏾

So, to every woman navigating this season quietly:

You are not imagining it.
You are not weak.
You are not left behind.
And you are certainly not alone.

We’re going to talk about this.
We’re going to learn about this.
And we’re going to navigate midlife with our eyes open and STILL looking, feeling & being FABULOUS DARLING.🎀👑💃🏾🙌🏾👌🏾👏🏾

What does true allyship actually look like?

It looks like organisations willing to listen.
Willing to learn.
Willing to confront uncomfortable truths.
Willing to acknowledge that not all women experience menopause in the same way.

I’m honoured to have been appointed by NHS Royal Berkshire to deliver a keynote session to nurses and healthcare professionals from departments across the hospital on the impact of menopause on Black & Brown women.

This matters.

Because for far too long, Black & Brown women have been overlooked in menopause conversations, overlooked in research, overlooked in healthcare education and too often left to suffer in silence.

True allyship is not performative statements.
It is action.

It is creating spaces where difficult conversations can happen.
It is investing in education.
It is recognising the cultural stigma, medical disparities and systemic barriers that continue to impact Black & Brown women in midlife.

It is understanding that equity in healthcare requires culturally competent education, awareness and support.

This conversation is pivotal.

Not to simply “raise awareness” — but to redefine the conversation.

To challenge the silence.
To challenge the inequities.
To ensure Black & Brown women are finally seen, heard and supported in ways that are relevant, compassionate and informed.

The fact that NHS Royal Berkshire has recognised the importance of this conversation speaks volumes.

This is what progress looks like.

The future of menopause education is not one-size-fits-all.

The future is culturally competent.
The future is inclusive.
The future listens.
The future understands.

And the future is now. I look forward to this conversation.

𝐈 𝐀𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞. 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐝 ‘𝐘𝐞𝐬.’ 🇬🇭

Moments like this remind me why I refuse to give up.

Last weekend, more than 100 Women of Action members from Action Chapel International Ghana 🇬🇭 came together for a live webinar titled: “𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 & 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧.”

Hosted by Senior Leader Rev. Mrs. Christine Ocansey, Prof. Dr. Mary Obodai, Genevieve Anum, Doris Ahiati, the Women of Action (WoA) Ghana team, and expertly moderated by Rev. Dr. Ainuson-Quampah, the event was nothing short of inspiring.

Over 100 women showed up in force to change the narrative on menopause and to open up a conversation that, for far too long, has been whispered about or ignored altogether.

Watching African women engage so openly, ask thoughtful questions and share in this important dialogue filled me with immense pride in my African heritage.

What almost ended my life has now become the catalyst for change and transformation for Black and Brown women—not only in the UK, but now here on the continent of Africa, in #Ghana

That is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

During the session, I spoke about the impact culture can have on the menopause experience across Africa, the realities of #perimenopause and menopause, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and symptoms including low libido, depression, anxiety, brain fog, and insomnia and the impact of declining hormones on a woman’s brain. Most importantly, we discussed the urgent need for Ghanaian women to receive the healthcare, information and support they deserve.

Before I began this journey of delivering talks in Ghana, I kept asking myself one question:

“Are African women ready to have this conversation?”

More than 100 women answered with a resounding: “Yes, we are.”

Not just with their words, but by showing up and engaging wholeheartedly.

The conversation has started.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞?

Imagine if men woke up one day and, for years, experienced insomnia, anxiety, brain fog, exhaustion, joint pain, low libido, hot flushes, mood swings, memory lapses and loss of confidence—all because of a natural stage of life.

Would we still dismiss it as “just getting older”?

Would workplaces ignore it?

Would healthcare leave them searching for answers?

Menopause isn’t “just hot flushes.” It’s a significant biological transition that affects millions of women, yet it’s still misunderstood, under-researched and often trivialised.

It’s time we stopped expecting women to simply “get on with it” and started treating menopause with the understanding and support it deserves.

I’M I N G H A N A 🇬🇭

For too long, menopause has been treated as a private issue.

In reality, it’s a workplace issue.
A leadership issue.
A wellbeing issue.
A business issue.
A community issue.

I’m currently in Ghana 🇬🇭and available to partner with forward-thinking organisations and community groups ready to support their female members and employees through evidence-based, culturally responsive #menopause education.

As an Award-Winning Speaker, Menopause Educator and Advocate, I’m here to engage, thought-provoking conversations that challenge stigma, spark meaningful discourse and equip organisations and community groups with practical strategies for change.

When women thrive, workplaces thrive, communities thrive.

If your organisation, community, conference or leadership team is ready to start the menopause conversation, let’s connect.

And IG, need your help. If you know a company, government agency, NGO, university, church, professional association or community group in Ghana 🇬🇭 that would benefit from this conversation, tag them in the comments ⬇️

or share ♻️ this post with them.

Together, we can ensure more women are seen, heard and supported in this transition.

Let’s make change together! 🔥
