July 16th is World Snake Day! This day is a global awareness observance dedicated to appreciating and understanding the diversity, preservation, and ecological importance of snakes.

For today, Channey letterpress printed a linoleum cut of a snake that was used for our 2025 Lunar New Year event at the Sacramento History Museum for the Year of the Snake. This linocut was engraved by a colleague who works with Channey at her other job. This was printed with red rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.

Throughout the month of October, we have been letterpress printing in our print shop at the Sacramento History Museum with pink ink. In this video, Jared printed a linoleum cut that was designed by a colleague of his at other place of employment.

The print depicts a desert scene with a large cactus. This was a test print to see how it looks so far. This was printed with pink oil base ink using a Washington hand press.

The linocut was made by a colleague of Jared from his other job and the text above, “Le Poisson Steve” was typeset in 24 point Caslon. This was printed on orange paper with black rubber base ink using a Washington hand press.
