The HIV Caucus has been all over conferences this year, gathering power and representing for our community.

#USCHA2026 was no exception. We made waves and are more united than ever in facing off against the forces that our trying to legislate our care, services and joy out of existence.

Here’s a recap of where we were. Now it’s time to remind our peers and opponents that we continue to stand on business.

In March 2026, we convened the Long-Term Survivors of HIV Summit in Sitges, Spain, bringing together participants from Europe, the USA and Canada. The Summit created a space for participant-led storytelling, ensuring our lived experience continues to guide remembrance as well as current and future fights for quality of life, access to care and treatment and a stigma-free life.

The Summit was an opportunity for people who have lived through decades of the epidemic to learn from one another, discuss ongoing challenges, and help build a shared “Legacy Chest,” a digital audiovisual collection of survivor stories intended to educate, inspire, and support advocacy for years to come.

This initiative is led by the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) in partnership with Ribbon - A Center of Excellence (Ribbon) (USA), The Reunion Project (USA), and Realize / Réalise (Canada). It has been developed by EATG and partner organisations, and was made possible through grants from Gilead Sciences, ViiV Healthcare and Merck, Sharp & Dohme.

Five years ago,I walked away from Redhook Initiative not knowing that one day I would return in a completely different capacity.

Thursday was a true full circle moment.

I want to firstly thank @kyahnicolee for the amazing work she’s doing with this generations PHN and taking a leap for joining forces with me to partner to make this event a success. I would like to thank the entire @rhookinitiative staff for allowing me to co-host the health fair and town hall to create space and meaningful conversations that center community. Thank you @made_in_soho and @soulwell80 for providing safe space for people heal.

A special thank you to @thereunionprojecttrp and @dandelions_movement for believing in this vision and helping make it possible. What started as an idea a town hall centered on women, youth, and long-term survivors became a reality.

This was also a milestone for Conversations with Kim. Our first community event and collaboration brought together multiple generations, voices, experiences, and perspectives in one room. From youth to long-term survivors, providers, advocates, and community members, the conversations reminded me why this work matters.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their stories, asked questions, got tested, connected with resources, and helped create a space rooted in honesty, healing, and hope.

This is only the beginning. 💜

Today, June 5, is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day #HLTSAD

A moment to recognise long-term and lifetime survivors and the knowledge, care and leadership they have carried across decades of the response.
