TEXASYLUM DEBUT ARTIST: ART BY MAYRA Houston artist Mayra Alexa, known as Art by Mayra, makes her Texasylum Poster Show debut with a diverse collection of paintings, portraits and pop culture inspired artwork. Mayra works primarily with paints, exploring everything from anime and fan art to realism, landscapes and abstract compositions. Her pop culture pieces favor bold black outlines, saturated colors and simplified shapes, while her portraits and traditional paintings demonstrate a more detailed approach to shading, texture and color blending. Her work also incorporates stencil techniques, graphic silhouettes and mixed media compositions. Mayra frequently experiments with contrasting styles, combining the playful aesthetics of anime with darker horror imagery, expressive portraiture and more traditional painting techniques. Beyond canvas painting, Mayra creates custom artwork, personalized commissions and hand painted apparel. Art by Mayra makes her Texasylum Poster Show debut November 7th & 8th at Equal Parts Brewing in Houston, Texas! . #texasylumpostershow #artbymayra #houstonartist #theRNRnerd #badmoonstudios

TEXASYLUM RETURNING ARTIST: SHIZOQ Christian Sauceda, better known as Shizoq, returns to the Texasylum Poster Show with his colorful brand of abstract art, graffiti influenced paintings and illustration. Shizoq’s paintings combine bold geometric shapes, distorted faces, exaggerated eyes and heavy black outlines. His compositions are packed with overlapping forms, loose linework and contrasting colors. Elements of street art, rad illustrations and psychedelic imagery bring a balance of shapes and spontaneous markings to his work. Beyond the canvas, Shizoq is also a tattoo artist and muralist. His tattoo portfolio covers everything from traditional and illustrative designs to detailed black and grey realism, showing a different side of his artistic abilities. Catch Shizoq back at the Texasylum Poster Show, November 7th and 8th, at Equal Parts Brewing in Houston, Texas! . #texasylumpostershow #shioq #houstonartist #theRNRnerd #badmoonstudios

TEXASYLUM RETURNING ARTIST: SKETCHY NEIGHBORHOOD Sketchy Neighborhood is the work of Houston illustrator Obray D Williams, whose talents include character design, concept art and graphic design. Williams has a playful, sometimes twisted approach to illustration, with a noticeable appreciation for vintage cartoons, Japanese pop art and classic comic illustration. His characters have exaggerated features and a slightly mischievous personality, with humor playing an important role in his artistic style. Working with traditional pencils and digital illustration, Williams puts considerable detail into his drawings, particularly through layered shading, unusual proportions and carefully developed expressions. His poster work takes inspiration from vintage print design, using limited color palettes, halftone textures and retro typography. His commercial portfolio includes projects for Oscar Mike Games, Shinybox Games and Delta H Con. Sketchy Neighborhood returns to the Texasylum Poster Show November 7th & 8th at Equal Parts Brewing in Houston. . #texasylumpostershow #sketchyneighborhood #houstonartist #theRNRnerd #badmoonstudios

TEXASYLUM DEBUT ARTIST: SHANIA DU BOSE Shania Du Bose is a photographer whose work covers portraiture, wildlife, landscapes, live music and sports, with a strong connection to Western culture and the outdoors. Her photography shows an excellent understanding of composition, lighting and timing. She makes great use of natural light, balancing rich shadows with warm highlights and earthy colors. Her portraits have a relaxed, personal quality, while her sports photography demonstrates precise timing, sharp detail and an excellent sense of movement. (Hey TPS skateboard vendors, ya listenin’?) Du Bose also experiments with black and white photography, bold contrast and alternative photographic treatments. Some of her more experimental work features blue toned images, distressed textures and handwritten elements, giving the photographs a rougher, almost handmade appearance. Her portfolio demonstrates a versatile approach to photography, with an emphasis on atmosphere, natural environments and the character of her subjects. Shania Du Bose makes her Texasylum Poster Show debut November 7th & 8th at Equal Parts Brewing in Houston. . #texasylumpostershow #shaniadubosephotography #texasphotographer #theRNRnerd #badmoonstudios

A MONUMENTAL THANK YOU TO THE HOST! As we get closer to the opening of the Texasylum Poster Show at Equal Parts Brewing, all of us participating artists wanted to take a collective moment to shine a massive spotlight on the incredible Chaz Von Graves @thernrnerd. This show simply would not be coming to life without his tireless efforts, seamless coordination, and absolute dedication to bringing our community together under one roof. From managing endless behind-the-scenes logistics to championing our artwork, Chaz has been a driving force making this event a reality. When he isn’t busy organizing local gallery spaces or hosting events, he is frequently commanding the stage as a trusted moderator for celebrity panels at major comic conventions across the country. We are endlessly grateful that he brought that same level of professionalism, energy, and stellar leadership to our poster show. To a phenomenal co-organizer, a brilliant panel host, and a true champion of comic art and pop culture: thank you, Chaz. TEXASYLUM DEBUT ARTIST: HOLLOW HEART STUDIOS Hollow Heart Studios is the creative outlet of an artist and teacher whose work moves between dark surrealism, pop art, portraiture and horror. Her artwork takes two very different approaches. On one side, haunting black and white paintings feature fractured faces, exposed skulls, distorted anatomy and unsettling imagery. Heavy shadows, blended grayscale tones and detailed textures give these pieces a disturbing sense of realism… On the other, her colorful paintings are chaotically packed with personality. Megan’s brighter work combines electric pinks, greens, blues and oranges with pop culture imagery, classical figures, exaggerated expressions and advertising graphics. Her portraits use contrasting colors to shape facial features while handwritten words, scribbles and scattered markings fill the background. The result is a mash up of street art, pop art and personal expression. Working across paint, clay and tattoo art, Megan isn’t afraid to jump between subjects, creating something grotesque, playful or strange. Hollow Heart Studios makes its Texasylum Poster Show debut November 7th and 8th at Equal Parts Brewing in Houston, Texas! . #texasylumpostershow #hollowheart #houstonartist #thernrnerd #badmoonstudios
