Magnificent Minneapolis philosopher & photographer @therobmorgan captured the first night of a surprise week on tour with my dear brother @theokatzman the other night at @turfclubmn & I think the joy in these few frames sums up more than I could weave into words from an airplane seat on two hours of sleep en route to yet another last minute destination. There were times on the way to this season of life where I grabbed tightly to the notion that I had to write the right song or play the perfect show to find fulfilment & now the more I continue to unclench my fists the clearer it is that the most magical melody is right there in front of me every step of the way - in the friends & strangers who continue to appear, each of us showing up reminding each other to let go, to smile, to play. It is my sincerest wish that you have some friends like these & I hope when they call you and ask if you’ll come with that you just say yes.

Had a blast this week with the band. Headed solo to Chelsea MI to play @jdsstagebistro on Sunday. Only a hand full of seats left, so grab yours while you can!

It has been a whirlwind of a week but we wanted to take a moment to share that The Silver Alchemist won “best band” at the @minnesotabride Best Of 2026 Awards! We are so grateful to all of the amazing couples that have entrusted us with delivering high-caliber music entertainment, as well as all of the planners, venues, and wedding professionals that continue to recommend and collaborate with us in creating exquisite and special days for couples across Minnesota.
AND THIS TEAM: AMAZING! We are honored by every musician, singer, and AV tech that consistently brings their incredible talents, attention, professionalism, and care to every event. It is truly a joy to work with each and every one of you. Cheers! 🥂

To my best friend: May your new year bring more bus rides to new places, with me sitting across from you (trying not to get car sick). Love you the most. ❤️

Today I close a chapter of my journey.

Origins Complete is here: a 3-disc album archiving the entire Origins era: original LP, remix LP, Fragments LP.

“I let go when I need to let go.”

Looking back, Origins was really all about letting go. Musically, for sure - an essentially ambient / modern classical moniker to that point, throwing caution to the wind with mangled vocals, tapey experiments, electronica sensibilities all over for the first time, new layers of synths + samplers + everything in between.

But, it was also a point in my life where I felt I needed to let go of pieces of myself even - what *should* or *shouldn’t* be when it came to finding my place as an artist, creator, a person. Introspection, emotion, melancholy, introversion; alongside joy, laughter, confidence, dreaming big. It’s all real, it’s all a mess. A mess I’m learning to not only accept, but even embrace.

When I look back, that kind of sums up this Origins journey: a blend of the beautiful, melodic, joyful, all in the midst of the strange, melancholy, gritty… the mess.

Some thoughts as I look back on an important part of my journey. One where I learned, and am still learning, how to let go.
