Countdown to Wine Flair SF is on, and we are thrilled that Tara Gomez and Mireia Taribo from Camins 2 Dreams will be joining us! 🍾 Camins 2 Dreams is a family-owned winery founded in 2017 by the wife winemaking duo, Tara Gomez, a member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, and Mireia Taribó, hailing from Catalunya.  Together, they craft wines that celebrate their diverse heritage while embracing a philosophy of minimal intervention—fermented with natural yeast and low levels of SO2. Committed to showcasing the distinct character of each vineyard, they exclusively partner with organic, biodynamic, and regenerative vineyards in San Benito and Santa Barbara County, with a focus in Sta. Rita Hills AVA, all of which uphold a deep respect for the land and its workers.  In addition to their delicious wines made from Gruner Veltliner, Carignan, and a host of other grapes, Camins 2 Dreams made a Guardian Vital Syrah in 2023. Tara Gomez is on The Vinguard’s advisory board, and both she and Mireia have joined us at Wine Flair in Austin,  Los Angeles, and San Francisco. We’re so happy to have them back in the Bay! Tickets for Wine Flair SF are live now via the link in our bio! 🍇 📸 by @emmakcreative #wineflair #thevinguard #womeninwine #lgbtqcommunity #naturalwine

Hot time, summer in the City–it’s our July event wrap up! Who joined us last month in the Inner Sunset? Pictured above, Blaise Zerega joined Gary Phillips in-conversation for the release of his latest novel, THE HAUL. They had a great conversation about tech bros, Phillips’ influences, and being pulled out of retirement for “one last job.” Co-presented by Alta Journal! @altajournal @soho_press . . . . . [ID: Zerega and Phillips stand with our kids section bleachers behind them and smile to the camera, Phillips holding a copy of The Haul and putting an arm around Zerega’s shoulders.] Jonathan Weber joined us for the release of his book, CITY ON THE EDGE: Technology, Politics, and the Fight for the Soul of San Francisco. Joined in-conversation by Quentin Hardy, Weber discussed how tech has shaped the Bay Area and at what cost, with lots of insider knowledge from decades of reporting. City on the Edge was Green Apple’s July Booksellers’ Choice! @atriabooks [ID: Weber sits at our author signing table with a Green Apple Books banner behind him as he looks with a smile on his face to the customer having his book signed.] Our neighbors at the San Francisco Botanical Garden invited us to be a part of their celebration of Gary Paul Nabhan’s WATER IN THE DESERT: A Pilgrimage with Air Copeland! Nabhan–one of the founders of Earth Day and a renowned ethnobotanist–has written several books, but this one is about how he came to love the Earth. @milkweed_books [ID: Nabhan and Copeland sit at the end of a long table, the shelves of the SF Botanical Garden’s wood-paneled library behind them, attendees in arm chairs looking to them on either side of the table.] Maria Lenhart joined us for a stroll down memory lane with her book LOST TREASURES OF SAN FRANCISCO! Lenhart shared facts and trivia about bygone institutions dating all the way back to before the 1906 earthquake. @reedy_press [ID: Lenhart sits with our Green Apple Books banner behind her and speaks into the microphone to the audience with presentation notes in her hand] Katie Gaddini joined us to celebrate the release of her book, ESTHER’S ARMY: The Christian Women Who Power the American Right. 📖 July Book Club — with The Ruby We're so excited to announce a new partnership with @therubysf, kicking off with our first virtual book club discussion together! This month we're reading Brilliant Imperfection: Grappling with Cure by Eli Clare — part memoir, part political analysis, part cultural critique, examining cure as both a personal and political concept and challenging what it means to live a full disabled life. 🗓️ Wednesday, July 29 🕔 5:00–6:00 PM PT 💻 Virtual, via Zoom 🔗 RSVP: https://tinyurl.com/july26drc (link in bio) No expectation that you've finished the book, or even started it! Read it slowly, read something else that speaks to this month's theme, or just come to listen. All of it counts as participation. This discussion is facilitated by Geetanshi Sharma, founder of the Disability Reading Challenge and a current Creative in Residence at The Ruby. 📬 Want all the updates on this book club — and every month's reading prompt? Subscribe to growing in the margins on Substack so you never miss one. Thank you for reading from the margins with us. 🫶🏽 #DisabilityReadingChallenge #DisabilityJustice #BookClub #BrilliantImperfection #EliClare #ReadingChallenge #TheRuby #VirtualBookClub #AccessibleCommunity #DisabilityReadingChallenge2026 #DisabilityAndCure Image Description: Illustration of a cream envelope with a white letter tucked inside, reading 'Disability Reading Challenge Book Club Club' in green script and typewriter text.
