We’re so excited to announce a new art exhibition at @victoryhallsf focused on The Ritch Street Art Flyers — Free & open to the public | Part of @undiscoveredsf SF Golden Hour Night Market 1994–Current is a community art exhibition and living archive honoring over three decades of culture, memory, and music at 330 Ritch Street — one of San Francisco’s most storied venues. From its 1994 opening as a supper club through the PopScene era, hip hop nights, salsa, spoken word, and its current life as Victory Hall, this building has held countless communities. Tonight, those communities come back to the building that held them. This exhibition is just the beginning. What opens here on October 24th is the first chapter of a longer, ongoing archive project — one built with the people remembering together. 🏆Collaborators & Contributors Flyers, photographs, stories, and archival resources for this exhibition were made possible through the generosity of: @theselecterdjkirk @ @shalyce_harper DJ Platurn @studiosakeone @ankhmarketing @lunarienne @adrienne.storey @sfpubliclibrary More chapters to come. I started working as a bar back at Mr Fives in Aug of 1991, having just graduated college a couple months prior. I lived around the corner, so the thought of working at a cool new night club and getting tips was kinda beyond my imagination. Low End Theory came out a few weeks later, then Brand Nubian, Gangstarr, Black Sheep, Cypress Hill, new Sade, Pal Joey and every week was like a new revolution in music. Mr Fives was a beautiful mixture of dancehall, hip hop, spoken word, deep house, soul, funk and early breaks/samples. Many nights you could hear all these styles flow fluidly within the span on an hour. Pharoahe Monch freestyled there; Q-Tip and Premier came by to check us out. One night Roger Sanchez DJed on 3 turntables, for like 5 hours. It was a Mecca for creatives in SF, new clothing companies, new musical artists, skaters, artists, poets, the whole gamut. I sold 2 bottles of Champaign to Mario Ellie on NYE Dec 31, 1991, swing guard and tenacious defender for the GS Warriors at the time. Another night all the members of BOOYA Tribe were there, just posted up at the bar in XXXL Pendletons. Those years massively inspired me and frankly sent me on the 🎶 course I’m still on. Thankfully. I’m DJing at @stillog.bar this Thurs 10/22 8-12midnight. All vinyl, with some classics from the epic Mr Fives era. Each one teach one. ❤️🎶🙏

330 Ritch Street was part of a vibrant chapter in San Francisco’s cultural history — a gathering place for hip hop, soul, Britpop, underground music, and the communities that came together around them, tucked into an alley between Brannan and Townsend. Now we’re gathering the stories, photographs, flyers, memories, and voices of the people who were there — to document and preserve this special piece of San Francisco history. Got an old event flyer? A ticket stub? A party invite? A photo from a night you still talk about? We want it.
