Three months of calling Texas our home. 💛 At the end of June, over seemingly endless drives and flights and visits to Love’s Travel Stop (bless), we began the process of relocating from the 812 to the 940. It’s been stressful. It’s been expensive. It’s been hot (but less humid!). It’s been a wild adventure with the people I care about the most. And I’ve loved it all.

Uprooting from the area I’d known for 42 years was certainly strange. There are faces and places I miss deeply, and Bloomington is still in my system in some ways. I could drive through that city blindfolded. I yearn for a TroHo gyro and had a dream last night about going to Soma for a Red Hottie (it’s not even February!).

But this place is feeling like home, too. I love the smell of the air and the scrubby green-brown landscape and the live oak and pecan trees. We’re finding our communities and our regular spots. Denton is wonderfully weird and eclectic, and we’re just close enough to and far away from Dallas. There is plentiful coffee and thrifting. The food is amazing. The people are welcoming. Downtown parking is FREE.

We’re still working on a sense of equilibrium, and we’ll get there. And! In the midst of all of this, Mal had the extra whammy of going away to college, an exciting but disorienting adventure of its own. It’s been a chaotic season, but I’m so proud of us for weathering these changes.

The record sets up the tour. The tour sells the record. Matt makes sure both are working together.

Happy Father’s Day to this rad dada! ❤️ I’m so grateful for his love, patience, support, and all the ways (big and small) in which he shows up for all of us (big and small) every day. We hit the jackpot with this dude. Love you, @thesituationist!

Hey! We’re moving to Texas. ❤️🤠💙 After 50 combined years (whoa) of calling Bloomington our home, we’ll be saying goodbye and relocating to Denton, Texas at the end of the month.

While there will be much (and many people!) to miss, we’re really looking forward to being closer to our family and friends in North Texas. We’re ready for this next big adventure!

The final Senior Sunday post: Mal’s high school graduation! 🎓🥹❤️I am infinitely proud of and amazed by this kid. He’s leaned into all of his best traits this year: creativity, empathy, cleverness, dedication, unabashed silliness. It’s been a joy to watch him bloom into who he is today, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
