POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
It’s been about a week since graduation, and I’ve been taking time to reflect on everything this journey has meant to me. I also want to thank everyone who reached out, congratulated me, liked, shared, or commented on my last post. The love and support truly meant a lot.

Momma, I made it. ❤️
Pops, we did it. 🙏🏾
Brothers, this one’s for y’all.

Every setback, every loss, every late night, and every obstacle along the way only made me stronger.

I CAN.
I WILL.
I AM.

First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me the strength, wisdom, and determination to keep pushing forward when things got difficult.

What started as a goal became a mission. Through hard work, perseverance, and faith, I completed 3 degrees and 2 certificates in about four years. The journey took longer than I originally expected because of class availability and scheduling, but that extra time allowed me to expand my knowledge and develop even more skills in music, video production, graphic arts, photography, and multimedia.

This achievement isn’t just for me. It’s for my family, my parents, my brothers, my community, and everyone who believed in me when I was still figuring things out.

To my classmates, instructors, friends, and everyone who supported me along the way—thank you.

One week later, and it still doesn’t feel real. But I’m grateful, I’m proud, and I’m ready for what’s next.

This chapter is complete.

The next chapter begins now.

Excuse me while I get emotional. I came into school a bottom dwelling 41 year old looking for discipline and community. I found allies and kinship that mean the world to me. Insert learning montage. I confronted the story I told myself that I wasn’t a college person after I had failed out of school twice before. Before, the square hat and the wizard robe was cringe to me, but now I feel like I was a part of the initiation process to adulthood. I’m 44 and officially an adult!
After graduation I took one last walk through @laneycollege and passed the magical church that is @laneycollegeart and the geese that were babies two years ago but are now raising their own before taking off on a wild journey across lands and borders. Me too, goose. I was able to offer some cedar I had in my bag for just the magical 🧙‍♀️ occasion. A blessing calling in the East, South, West, North, Mother Earth, father sky, and the great unknown in gratitude for the metamorphosis I have undergone. It felt good to honor that waterway and the house of heads and the future farm and the connections made and the discipline learned and the interior journey and the new wings that finally grew in.
I went home and immediately got to work coding an art sale platform that was just an idea but somehow I knew I could get it done. Actually, I had to because I already advertised my fundraiser for next year’s schooling in Berlin. I stayed up all night drinking coffee and typing in a strange computer language. Right at 10:17am I published and took a nap.

After some strange dream about a village centered around a thrift store, I woke up for the festivities planned by @serena.dema.vivas and @nikolelent. Being around community that have come in and out of my life during the last 20 years in the bay, I was struck by utter value of connection. The threads of conversation that built a net that holds it all together. It didn’t realize how isolated I had become on my journey through the last few years. The brief reminder of friendship after the epic graduation montage was fortifying. Thank you✨✨
Now I’m raising $ for food thru a print sale for next school year. Decodrome.com 💖 help welcome
