Imagine if Nephi, Abinadi, Captain Moroni, Samuel, or Joseph Smith had decided that the cost of obedience was too high?

It's natural to question, to justify, and sometimes even to resist the commandments we're given.

Even Jesus Christ, in Gethsemane, asked three times for the cup to pass from Him. He knew the suffering that lay ahead. He expressed His anguish to His Father. And still, He surrendered His will.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments” requires more than believing in Jesus Christ. It requires the faith to surrender our own will and say, “Not my will, but thine, be done.”

Not just when His will aligns with ours. Not just when obedience makes sense to us. Not just when it's easy.

Faith means trusting Him enough to let His will take precedence over our own.

I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing our stories and experiences with faith. But I do think social media has created a new form of testimony: the "I'm telling you my truth without telling you how it's working for me" testimony.

We need to be careful not to let someone's half-told testimony justify our own walk with Jesus.

An experience can be sincere without being a complete picture of the gospel. And someone's personal conclusion isn't a substitute for God's revealed truth.

Mormonism has become more than a religious topic online, it has become part of the attention economy.

Mormon related content has generated billions of views across social media, while documentaries, podcasts, reality shows, movies and creators continue discovering something important:

Mormonism gets attention. And attention has value.

Views become followers. Followers become influence. Influence can become revenue.

That doesn’t mean every critic is dishonest or every criticism is propaganda. But it does mean we should recognize when information is being marketed to us.

Sensationalism. Mockery. Exaggeration. Misrepresentation. Quote-mining. Oversimplified history. Loaded language. Missing context. Provocative thumbnails.

Sometimes the most viral version of a story isn’t the most accurate one, it’s simply the version most likely to make you click.

So don’t let an algorithm decide what you believe.

Listen to opposing arguments. Check primary sources. Study the historical context. Understand what Latter-day Saints actually believe before accepting someone else’s characterization of those beliefs.

And ultimately, our invitation as Latter-day Saints isn’t:

“Take our word for it.”

It’s the invitation Christ Himself extended:

“Come and see.” John 1:46

Study. Ask questions. Pray. Seek truth. Seek revelation.

Don’t just learn about our faith from people telling you why they left it, or even from people telling you why you should believe it.

Come and see for yourself.

IDAHO! Listen up!

Stand by those we claim to be called of GOD!!!

Doctors all over the country recommend abortion far too casually, and I LOVE that Idaho requires physicians to carefully consider the medical and legal implications before treating a pregnant women. A serious procedure should never be treated as the easy answer or simply used to justify a rationale. Doctors need to be held to a higher standard and the fact is, a bad outcome for a high risk pregnancy is more likely to be sued than simply terminating the pregnancy.

To often we let the news and their half truth stories emotionally manipulate us in developing our opinions on moral matters, when really we need to stand by the leaders we claim to be called of god. Do you believe they are called of God or not? Do you believe in the sanctity of life or not?

I stand with the church that idaho abortion laws should NOT be loosened, I stand with the church that this is a moral issue, not a political one.

As someone who has had 4 miscarriages, 2 needing d&c’s, 2 preterm births from my children who were life flighted to a nicu that could handle them, and works in healthcare staffing industry I see the lies told left and right and I cannot stay silent.

My Fellow Idahoans. (ADDING NEVADA TOO-I don’t live there but Nevada needs to vote no)

It’s clear satan is working overtime to diminish the sanctity of life. Our state (through a citizen initiative) is trying to change abortion state laws, but the church has always been clear on the abortion stance.

We … declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

“We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.”

“Nurturing and protecting life that is yet unborn is not a political position. It is a moral law confirmed by the Lord through His prophets.” -Elder Anderson

This is a moral law, NOT a political stance.

BREAKING: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is requesting local ward leaders in Idaho read the following statement to congregations on TWO consecutive Sundays!

The letter encourages members to voice opposition to a pro-abortion initiative in the state "in a respectful manner consistent with prophetic direction of always demonstrating Christlike love and civility."

I don’t fault her for not knowing the doctrine. There are things I still don’t understand at times but just because I don’t understand it doesn’t mean I abandon it.

Preach my gospel clears up any possibility of a misunderstanding:

Salvation :Because we will all be resurrected, we will all be saved�—or gain salvation�—from physical death. This gift is given to us through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Exaltation-or eternal life, is the highest state of happiness and glory in the celestial kingdom. Exaltation means living with God forever in eternal families. It is to know God and Jesus Christ, to become like Them, and to experience the life They enjoy.

LDS theology is quite literally the most merciful belief. Our expansive belief encompasses everyone, even those who never had the chance to know christ or learn of him. We believe by his grace it’s a gift to all.

BUT, We don’t abandon a faith anytime we come across something. that challenges it. Faith isn’t pretending you have every answer. It’s trusting God enough to keep seeking when you don’t.

Stop being lazy learners. Don’t let one hard question outweigh years of truth, revelation, and spiritual experience.
I’ve read the Book of Mormon over 30 times—and I’m still discovering things I never saw before.

Read it, Study it, Pray about it and God will give you truth. You will understand christ better and get closer to him and in turn know him on a deeper level than mainstream christianity offers.

Idaho is about to vote on a critical abortion ballot measure, Prop 1. It would make abortion legal through (arguably) all 9 months, for any reason.

And some would use Stefannie’s story to insist that she is exactly the kind of woman who needs abortion.

We believe it is not the way.

Ending the life of a human being, an innocent baby, is not the way.

“If we say we are anti-abortion in our personal life but pro-choice in public policy, we are saying that we will not use our influence to establish public policies that encourage righteous choices on matters God’s servants have defined as serious sins. I urge Latter-day Saints who have taken that position to ask themselves which other grievous sins should be decriminalized or smiled on by the law due to this theory that persons should not be hampered in their choices. Should we decriminalize or lighten the legal consequences of child abuse? of cruelty to animals? of pollution? of fraud? of fathers who choose to abandon their families for greater freedom or convenience?” @dallinhoaks
