Standards are contagious. Spend enough time around killers and you stop accepting mediocre from yourself. You start measuring your week against theirs instead of against last year’s version of you.

Our best event to date @theuncommon.uk

One of the highlights of the quarter always.

Feeling very lucky to be able to speak and present to such an incredible room of entrepreneurs.

Pretty mad thinking of the caliber of people on these stages, blessed to be around these people.

We’re building something special with great people only.

Life by design 📈

I joined @theuncommon.uk 1 year ago, and last weekend got to celebrate in Barcelona at the Q2 Retreat ☀️

It’s been absolutely mental to look back on the impact these guys have had on my life and business after just 1 year of working together:

Total revenue before joining: £5,417.50
Total revenue after the 1st year: £161,152.77

Team size before joining: just me, still working full time
Team size after the 1st year: 4 (about to be 5)

Active clients before joining: 3
Active clients after the 1st year: 26

Record month before joining: £2,200
Record month after the 1st year: £36,000

Madness.

I sometimes get asked what it is the group actually does, but the impact speaks for itself.

Q2 was a tough quarter at TDS, we were flying but there were cracks starting to form in how we operated.

That meant a lot of fixing, testing & upgrading how we went about our day to day.

We’re out of that patch now, and coming off the back of the retreat we have a ridiculous plan on the next phase.

Every single part of the business is levelling up.

And it’s all down to being around these incredible people.

A few weeks ago I did my first ever guest speaker presentation at the @wescaletrades Mastermind Event.

I'll be honest, I was absolutely shitting myself 😂

But here's what made it all worth it. I got to stand up in a room full of trades business owners going through the exact same things I've already been through.

The same problems, the same stress, and the same lonely chapters I remember all too well.

I told my story. I had some brilliant conversations. And I got to actually help 30-odd business owners work through the stuff that's holding them back.

That right there is exactly why I do what I do.

A few years ago I was the one sat in audiences wishing I had a room like this. Now I'm the one stood at the front.

Mad how things change when you stop trying to do it all on your own.

I’ve been in business since I was 17.

Started as a personal trainer, built a gym, took it online, closed a business, then started again from nothing.

Here are 7 things a decade of it has hammered into me:

1. You usually know the right move months before you make it. The gap between knowing and doing is where most people lose years.

2. The market doesn’t owe you consistency. What worked 18 months ago is probably already dying.

3. Working harder is the first thing you reach for and the last thing that actually works.

4. Build a point of view. It’s the one thing nobody can undercut you on.

5. Discipline is overrated. Build an environment where the right thing is the easy thing.

6. Fear of walking away from the money keeps more people stuck than the money ever did.

7. Fire before you’re ready. Ready only ever turns up after you’ve already started.

It took me ten years and a lot of expensive fuck-ups to learn these.

What’s one lesson you can add to the list?

Had the chance to sit down Nick Garrity @thetradesmarketer

Good conversation around business, growth and what actually goes on behind the scenes.

A lot of people only see the end result but not what it takes to get there.

Recently sat down with Nick Garrity @thetradesmarketer to talk about Murray Landscapes, the journey so far and what it takes behind the scenes to build and maintain high standards.

Proud to share a bit more about how we operate as a business and what drives us day to day.

Positivity in the face of adversity is one of the biggest things for me this year.

I want to be as positive as I can, even on the difficult, hard, and long days. Negativity is contagious, and a bad working environment serves no one. If we can turn tough situations into something positive, or at least find some light in the dark, we create a better culture for everyone.

That’s what I’m all about.

But let’s be real, some things are just shit. There’s no denying that.

You’ve got two options: let it ruin your day, your week, your month… or just get on with it. Accept it for what it is and move on.

Life is always going to throw hurdles at you. The sooner you accept that, the less power those moments have over you.

I’m not there yet, but I’m a lot better than I used to be.

It’s easy to be negative. Choosing positivity takes effort, but that’s where the difference is made

I’ve always recognised the one advantage I had when starting my business… my age.

At the time, it didn’t feel like an advantage. Van insurance was through the roof, people underestimated me, getting finance was tough - and all I wanted to do was grow up.

But looking back now, I can see it differently.

I had fewer responsibilities. No mortgage. No big personal commitments. Just time, energy, and a willingness to take a risk.

Starting young isn’t easy, but neither is starting later.

The difference is, the stakes feel very different once life gets bigger.

If you’ve got the chance to take the leap early, it might just be the best time to do it.
