The Hideout is loosing its downtown location after 26 years, and this weekend is the very last weekend before they move.

The Hideout has given me so many lovely friends and wonderful memories, and I am very thankful to have played a very short part in its very long history.

I knew very few people when I moved to Austin. My first year here was practically just go to work and go home. I decided I need to get back into theatre outside of school.

I am soooo thankful that Mickey told me about The Hideout and even more thankful that Whitney and Adrian convinced me to audition for Boo85 even though I had taken not a single class and really had no idea what I was doing.

Here are some of my favorite memories:

- Boo85 the whole entire thing <3
- Teching marathon shows
- Working the summer camps. These summer camps made me remember why I actually LIKE teaching theatre.
- All nine levels with the Fab Five
- The birth of Puppet Bucket during the marathon. Which as I am sure you know Puppet Bucket is something I care DEEPLY about. It would not have happened without The Hideout.
- Every single Free Fringe I ever did. I think I’m going to miss Free Fringe the most because I love coming up with weird lil formats and doing them there. My favorite Free Fringes though were the ones I did with Connor and Roxy 🫶🏻🫶🏻
- Wild Friends (the whole thing)
- Walking into the coffee shop and always having someone to talk to.

I know there are so many more I didn’t mentioned but if I said every single memory I’d run out of space to type!!

See ya this weekend Hideout for one last hoorah <3

Fall 2024 - Always say yes to the random friends trip if you can ✈️ @jessecherubini showed off his old stopping grounds 🍁 and remember the green lights are most likely a bank, not the northern lights

2025, the year I learned

- it can hurt really, really bad without actually killing you
- you can burn it all down and start from scratch
- don’t paint your bedroom a color called “grenadine”
- resentment is a poison you don’t have to keep drinking
- choosing yourself is not the same as being selfish if the alternative was to keep fading into someone you don’t recognize
- a conch piercing is not what you think it is
- life is not finite; there are always expansion packs
- your body is going through this with you; find gentle ways to say thanks
- a co-working space is kind of a scam
- some people will grow tired of you talking about The Big Thing before you’re ready to stop talking about The Big Thing. When that happens, get a therapist.
- closure is a gift you give yourself; stop waiting for an apology
- There are more embarrassing things in life than posting a reel
- pain is a beautiful, terrifying change-maker but if you sit with her long enough, your joy will come back stronger on the other side
- when the music festival gets canceled, go to Nashville and throw your bra at a punk show (it was an old bra anyway)
- as the one and only person who has spent 32 years of life in my own presence, no one’s opinion of me could ever matter more than my opinion of myself
- Some people will hold you and other people will hold you at arm’s length. Find the former and stick together.
- get onstage get in your journal get in front of the camera. keep making shit so you don’t explode

Grateful for all of it. Grateful to try again. 💖

For the last few years, Fallout Theater has been Austin’s underground comedy bunker (literally). Our basement stage is where experimental comedy thrives, students find their voice, and audiences laugh until their faces hurt.

Our regular shows and classes keep the lights on and the laughs flowing, but there are big improvements we want to make so Fallout can truly shine. A lot of these improvemens are expensive af because our building is over 100 years old (yes, we’re 83% sure it’s haunted 👻).

That’s why we’re having our first-ever Fallout Harvest Festival, a month-long fundraiser where instead of harvesting corn or pumpkins, we’re harvesting 💰 to invest back into the space and community we love!

You can find more info in the link in my bio and of course please follow @falloutcomedyatx 💖✨
