You see me showing up. You don’t see what it costs my body to do it.

Living with a chronic, progressive illness means I can look healthy while my body is struggling. Right now, IBS-C and my secondary diagnoses are making something as basic as digestion feel like a full-time job.

So here I am, eating two kiwis I don’t particularly like because my care team recommended trying them. Hoping for a little relief. Willing to keep trying, even when I’m tired of having to try so hard.

I’m sharing more of this because there’s a lot that happens between “you look great” and how we actually feel.

If you’re managing symptoms nobody can see, you don’t have to prove how sick you are to deserve support. 💚

This administration did not create misogyny. It licensed it.

It told every man who was already thinking those things that it is now acceptable. That the people in the highest positions of power share their worldview. That the contempt they had been quietly carrying is now openly and officially okay to say out loud.

That is what changed. Not the existence of the hate. The permission to be public about it.

And you can feel the difference. If you have been online in the last few years you have felt the shift. The comments have gotten so much nastier. The entitlement has gotten louder. The sense that women who speak up somehow deserve to be degraded. And the part that is new? They are not even disguising it anymore. They are proud of it.

I see it in my own comments. I hear it from women across every industry. The filter is gone. And a filter being gone is not honesty. It is people who genuinely believe there are no consequences for what they say to women.

That is the shift. And it is directly connected to who is leading this country right now.

THE PERFECT SON tried so hard to convince me Liam was guilty that I immediately thought... okay, so he probably isn’t. 😂👀

The setup had me. The short chapters kept me reading. Learning what Liam had actually done in his past definitely kept me curious.

But when your psychological thriller depends on a big reveal and I figure it out before I’m even halfway through the book... we’ve got a problem.

I am so fucking tired of women being told to watch what we wear while men get endless excuses for how they behave.

Be sexy, but not too sexy. Be confident, but don’t invite attention. Speak up, but be prepared to hear that you “can’t take a joke.”

There is always another rule for us. Another excuse for them.

And when we call it out, suddenly OUR reaction needs an explanation. People will write entire essays defending a man before admitting that a woman has every right to be disgusted.

My clothes are not permission. My body is not an invitation. And my anger does not need to be made more palatable.

Wear what YOU want. Take up space. Call the bullshit out.

We have spent enough time policing women. Hold men accountable.

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

Nobody talks about this part.

The part where you clock out of a job that already took everything from you, walk through the door, and instead of resting you open your laptop and get to work on the thing that actually sets your soul on fire.

The part where you are recording in between loads of laundry. Editing in a hotel room after a full day of traveling for work. Answering emails at 10pm not because you are grinding for the aesthetic but because that is literally the only window you had.

This is not a highlight reel. This is my actual life.

And I am not sharing it for sympathy. I am sharing it because I spent so long thinking I was the only one doing it this way. Quietly building something real while the rest of the world was clocking out and watching TV. Pouring into a dream that has not fully paid off yet but refusing to walk away from it because I know what I am building matters.

If you are in this season right now, the messy middle where the effort is enormous and the results feel invisible, this one is for you.

The Last Seat started with an attempted murder on a BUS and I thought we were about to GO. 👀

I had a plan for this year. This wasn’t it.

I went into it with goals, ideas, and things I was ready to make happen. Then my health needed my attention, and those plans had to wait.

I’m still going through treatment. Still rebuilding. Still figuring out what moving forward looks like for me.

And honestly? Taking care of myself has been hard. When you’re used to doing for everyone else, putting yourself first can feel uncomfortable. Even when you know you need it.

I had to learn that my goals couldn’t keep coming at the expense of my health. I needed to give myself some of the care I’m always so willing to give other people.

Now, I’m starting to find clarity. I’m asking questions I hadn’t given myself enough space to answer. And, I am realizing that things I was doing before are not things I will be doing moving forward.

I still don’t have a plan. No clear goals or direction. I am just simply showing up.

If this year hasn’t looked anything like you hoped, I get it. You’re allowed to be disappointed. You don’t have to fake positivity when sometimes life does suck.

Just remember you deserve to take care of yourself before you have anything else to give everyone else. 🤍
