May 1st 2025 —> May 1st 2026. A full-circle moment today as I reflect on the last year and celebrate some big wins (and moves) for two amazing local businesses. On May 1st, 2025, I wrapped up my Coffee | Shop Thrift Tour inside Market at 70 King. What started as a couple of DMs to Ayesha at @thesouk.whitby and Gabe from @gabeandpancha back in March 2025 turned into something way bigger than I could’ve imagined… an incredible support system and friendship 🫶 ⏩ Fast forward to 2026, and I’ve had the chance to collaborate with both of them yet again to introduce my second project @theunitysocial 🥂 Hosting The Souk After Hours Cøcktail Bar and Cøcktails & Classics Zero Proof Party alongside them over the last 4 months has been such an honour 🩷 And now today, on the exact weekend, both Ayesha and Gabe have moved into new spaces and onto new projects. I got to visit them and grab a coffee, and I couldn’t help but think as my “on this day” album comes up, what a year it’s been and how grateful I am that they helped me build my ideas. Follow Gabe and Chelsea over at @crafted.artbar for all their pop-up events and make sure to visit them at @witzkesgreenhouses over the summer. Check out @thesouk.whitby’s new stunning space at 113 Brock St S. And keep tuning in here… there may be a return of Monday Matcha + Thrift Market sooner than later 😉 Xo Jeanelle

Work/Life update: My mental health is bad right now. My brain’s been out of service. Oh and hello to all the people who just started following me. Welcome and thanks for being here! (I promise a much more enthusiastic greeting at some point) Building a business and brand, especially one that relies heavily on communication and in-real-life contact, takes a lot of energy. Picking Craig’s gravestone this week knocked the wind out of me. I sob at the faintest hint of a memory. And that does not bode well in the middle of a meeting. So I’ve perfected holding in tears ‘til I’m home. It takes a lot of energy to control this. One minute I’ll be designing posters the next I’m hugging my kids as they work through their grief. It takes a lot of energy to balance both worlds. I have two big events coming up. Both mean a lot to me and I’m committed to making them the magical experiences I envision. These projects bring me joy and remind me of my purpose. It takes energy to create this. My energy reserves have been depleted, and I needed to stop pressuring my self to keep going. Why am I sharing this? Not sure. My grief brain has me oversharing even more than my ADHD brain. I didn’t plan to post all this. It just kinda blurted out. So there’s no real “moral to the story”. Or maybe it’s not for anyone else, and this is just for me to express. Maybe it’s just that we need to recognize each other’s humanness a little more. Maybe it’s a reminder we need to be softer with each other. And with ourselves. I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just know grief got me all up in my feels on this rainy Sunday. I’ll be back tomorrow with all the upcoming excitement. For now, I shall continue to recharge my energy (aka cry, eat snacks and hang with my boys when they finally wake up). xo Jeanelle Ps. Sorry Craig, I killed some your plants. Remembering to water them takes a lot of energy. #grief #gang #oversharingiscaring #community #support

Still feeling buzzed from our very first Alcohol-Free Cocktail Bar night at @thesouk.whitby ✨ Huge THANK YOU to @bluephoenixstudios for highlighting the heart of it all and creating this beautiful video!! In the time that you were there you managed to capture the joy, connection, laughter and good vibes that filled the room (along with all my hugs 😆🫂) As we continue to grow these type of events and partner with incredible local businesses, I’m so grateful (and honestly feel so encouraged) to see how many of you actually want more of this. We’re creating a new kind of nightlife right here in Durham and it’s only going to get better! So thank you again to @bluephoenixstudios for being part of this. And thank you of course to the @thesouk.whitby for co-creating this first of many booze-free bar nights together 🖤 🍸 Come hang with us again on February 27th from 6-10pm for round 2 of The Souk After Hours. Make sure to grab your free tickets early (link in bio) to save your spot! This is a limited capacity event 🙏🏼 Let’s keep building something beautiful together!! ❣️ @theunitysocial x @thesouk.whitby #alcoholfree #cocktail #bar #coffee #shop
