The idea for The Unity Social sparked 7 years ago.

As a newly sober party goer, I noticed something missing on the social scene. So it became my mission (and passion) to create it.

For now, until we get our own place, join us at our pop-up parties around the Durham Region!!

What you can expect at a Unity Social event:

🎶 A space that plays the kind of music we grew up listening to.

🪩 A space that has “night club” energy, just with a more intimate and intentional vibe.

💃 🕺 A space that you can come to solo or with your friends.

🥂 A space that celebrates and values community!

Building supportive and sustainable communities take work.
 Building communities that extend beyond the events take work.

But if we want a community that shows up and supports us we have to show up and support the community. Even when it’s not always easy, convenient or comfortable. It takes work.

Our healing and wellbeing rely on good relationships. We need each other more than ever. We need to gather more, dance more, and connect more. We need to understand how to nurture the people that fulfill us and fuel us. And we need to feel encouraged to do it as our most authentic selves.

It can be awkward and even jarring to show up and socialize sober. But once we get past the weirdness of it, it can also be the most liberating and enlightening experience, too.

@theunitysocial is a grassroots movement. Starting from the ground up we’re out here planting seeds and bringing new ideas to the party scene.

We’ve normalized “liquid courage” for far too long, it’s time we reclaim “uncomfortable courage”.

Cheers to all of us getting out of our comfort zones and being our weird and wild selves, on and off the dance floor!

We’re making •sober• the cool, new way to do nightlife.

May 1st 2025 —> May 1st 2026.

A full-circle moment today as I reflect on the last year and celebrate some big wins (and moves) for two amazing local businesses.

On May 1st, 2025, I wrapped up my Coffee | Shop Thrift Tour inside Market at 70 King.

What started as a couple of DMs to Ayesha at @thesouk.whitby and Gabe from @gabeandpancha back in March 2025 turned into something way bigger than I could’ve imagined… an incredible support system and friendship 🫶

⏩ Fast forward to 2026, and I’ve had the chance to collaborate with both of them yet again to introduce my second project @theunitysocial 🥂 Hosting The Souk After Hours Cøcktail Bar and Cøcktails & Classics Zero Proof Party alongside them over the last 4 months has been such an honour 🩷

And now today, on the exact weekend, both Ayesha and Gabe have moved into new spaces and onto new projects.

I got to visit them and grab a coffee, and I couldn’t help but think as my “on this day” album comes up, what a year it’s been and how grateful I am that they helped me build my ideas.

And he’s bringing us back to the dance floor on Friday April 24th for our monthly sober event series inside @marketat70king.

We’re turning the lights down low (iykyk), and filling the space with good music and warm vibes.
