Swipe to see what fellows from SFFF Cohort 1 have to say.

The Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship was created to give young African fashion creatives the knowledge, guidance, and community many of us wish we had earlier in our journeys.

Applications for Cohort 2 are now open. If you’re ready to learn, grow, and build with intention, apply via the link in our bio.

In February, I said yes to an opportunity that would stretch my thinking beyond fashion design.

After 10 weeks of learning, unlearning, and relearning, I'm proud to share that I successfully completed the Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship (SFFF) Cohort 1, powered by @theupnetwork.

This experience challenged me to think beyond creating beautiful garments and deeper into sustainability, circularity, ethical business practices, innovation, and the future of African fashion.

One of the highlights was collaborating with an incredible community of fellows and working together on our capstone project, including a memorable 2-day upcycling workshop.

My biggest takeaway? Sustainability is not a destination. It's a continuous commitment to making better decisions, building better systems, and creating value that extends beyond profit.

Grateful for the knowledge, connections, mentorship, and experiences that will continue to shape how I build Eydne and contribute to the fashion ecosystem.

The fellowship may have ended, but the work continues.

✨ Here's to building fashion that creates impact, preserves culture, and embraces sustainability.

10 weeks is not 10 days. 😅
And even if it were, it would still be no small feat to commit, show up, and be part of the very first cohort of the @theupnetwork Sustainable Fashion Foundation Fellowship.

Over the course of 10 weeks, we learned from incredible professionals across the sustainable fashion space on topics such as:
• Fashion Histories
• What Sustainable Fashion Really Means
• Fashion as Earth
• Intellectual Property, Ethics & Social Impact in Fashion
• Circular Fashion Deep Dive
• Cultural Storytelling as a Bridge to Cultural Sustainability
• Wardrobe Mindfulness, Sustainable Styling & Fashion as Identity
• Creativity: From Theory to Application
• Career Pathways in Sustainable Fashion
• Business & Impact
• Capstone project guidance and implementing 'The Upcycle Collective Project' 🥳

One of the most impactful parts of the fellowship was receiving guidance and support towards implementing our capstone project, working together with fellow fellows, and I’m grateful it was successfully executed. ✨️

It was truly an enriching experience that expanded both my thinking and my vision for sustainable fashion and impact.

Special appreciation to @ike0luwa of UpNetwork, and the entire team for building such an intentional and valuable experience.

And to my fellow fellows of Cohort 1—you all are amazing. Keep the fire burning. ✨

In Djo’s voice:
'It’s the end of a beginning… just trust me, you’ll be fine.'
😉💚

To a sustainable future,
Queen Summer

Some people spent their day shopping.
Some of us spent ours… mending 🪡

We showed up for Mend in Public Day with @theupnetwork , not just to fix clothes, but to rethink how we relate to them.

Because sustainable fashion isn’t just about buying better.
It’s about keeping, repairing, restyling… and doing it together.

There’s something powerful about seeing strangers sit side by side, stitching life back into pieces they could have thrown away.
It stops being just fashion. It becomes community.

And honestly? This is what we’re building.

A space for people who:
– rewear without shame
– thrift with intention
– believe style doesn’t have to cost the earth

If that sounds like you… you’re our people 🤍

Follow us and be part of it.

A lot of thought and behind-the-scenes planning went into the mending event I organized last week with @oguguamobioyesiji & @afrikaana__.

It was important to me that we first established and understood the relationship attendees have with their clothes. This is because clothes carry memories and emotions.

It was beautiful learning about the connections our attendees had with their clothes and teaching them simple mending hacks that will help them keep wearing the pieces they love.

If you need help planning or organizing events like this, send me a DM.

Hello 🤗. I’m a member of the Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship together with my co-members we organized a 2-day workshop "The Upcycle Collective Project"

Upcycling is all about turning old or worn-out clothes into something fresh, creative, and valuable again instead of throwing them away. It’s fashion with purpose of reducing waste while expressing your unique style.

I’m inviting you to join this 2-day workshop and learn these amazing skills with me. Click the link in the post to join the train 🚀

I had the privilege of guest facilitating for @theupnetwork Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship this weekend. 🧵✨

The topic?

Cultural Storytelling as a Bridge to Cultural Sustainability: exploring how young African creatives can translate their heritage into strategic, differentiated work.

We worked through a 4-step cultural storytelling framework (Identify, Interpret, Translate, Express) using real examples from fashion brands across Africa. The energy in that room was incredible.

🎉 One of our fellows shared:
“I absolutely loved the session today! I’m so glad I was able to join live—it was incredibly instructional and truly inspired me to take action. Thank you, Ikeoluwa, and the SFFF team. I’ll be catching up on the recordings from the sessions I missed and will definitely keep you updated on my progress.”

Thank you, @theupnetwork and @ike0luwa for the opportunity to lead this week’s session! 🙌🏾

This is the work I love, helping entrepreneurs and creators build brands rooted in cultural intelligence and social impact. If your organization is looking for guest facilitators, workshop leaders, or speakers on cultural branding, sustainable marketing, or creative strategy, let’s connect.

Today is a very special day for my professional journey. I am stepping into a space that reflects my belief that we should never stop growing, no matter how much we have already achieved.

I am officially starting my role as an expert facilitator for the Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship by @theupnetwork an initiative of @ike0luwa, but I am also joining the cohort as a fellow to learn from the other brilliant minds in the room.

There is a certain humility required to lead a masterclass while remaining open to being a student at the same time. While I am excited to share my expertise on restorative design and the circular economy, I am just as eager to listen to the perspectives of my peers. Sustainability is a massive, shifting puzzle and no one person has all the answers.

The best way to build a truly global solution is to stay curious and keep learning from every expert at the table.

In our session today, we are going to look at fashion through a lens that values people and the planet just as much as profit. Looking at the environmental impact of our choices, the social responsibilities we carry as creators, and the economic frameworks that will allow our African brands to compete on a world stage.

I am here to guide, but I am also here to be inspired. I am here to teach, but I am also here to be taught. It is this constant exchange of knowledge that is going to fuel the scale in African fashion.

I cannot wait to see the ideas that emerge from this session today. I am going to be soaking up every insight and I look forward to bringing that fresh energy back into everything I do at @doni.africa @missgreenfashion.

Thank you for this brilliant initiative @ike0luwa

Thank you @ike0luwa for your impactful expert session on “The Hidden Cost of Fashion: Understanding the Industry’s Environmental and Social Impact.” Your words challenged us to look beyond the beauty of fashion and ask the hard questions like; what is the true price of style, and who pays it?

And now we are rewriting the narrative and making sure it’s one that values people, the planet, and purpose over profit.

PS: This is a movement. So if you’re ready to create lasting change in the fashion ecosystem, we invite you to partner or collaborate with us for Miss Green Fashion 2026.
