In February, I said yes to an opportunity that would stretch my thinking beyond fashion design.

After 10 weeks of learning, unlearning, and relearning, I'm proud to share that I successfully completed the Sustainable Fashion Foundations Fellowship (SFFF) Cohort 1, powered by @theupnetwork.

This experience challenged me to think beyond creating beautiful garments and deeper into sustainability, circularity, ethical business practices, innovation, and the future of African fashion.

One of the highlights was collaborating with an incredible community of fellows and working together on our capstone project, including a memorable 2-day upcycling workshop.

My biggest takeaway? Sustainability is not a destination. It's a continuous commitment to making better decisions, building better systems, and creating value that extends beyond profit.

Grateful for the knowledge, connections, mentorship, and experiences that will continue to shape how I build Eydne and contribute to the fashion ecosystem.

The fellowship may have ended, but the work continues.

Many young people enter the fashion industry believing that creativity is all they need to succeed.

With a background in environmental science, and a passion for fashion, Mhinki became curious as to how both could intersect, and Sustainable Fashion seemed to be the answer.
