I’m on my way back to Cornwall from my first book tour event at the Vanner Gallery in Salisbury yesterday. Both afternoon and evening events were a great success with stimulating talks and wide ranging discussions led by David the director of the Vanner Gallery. I talked at length about the language of painting and abstraction together with how I’ve built my language of paint. Three paintings in particular (shown here) were discussed in detail covering key aspects of composition, colour, surface development, mark making and the mystery of the layers that reveal themselves over time. I also talked about my fundraising campaign for the @southwestcoastpath revealing a framed sample print shown here. Thank you to @eatartpictureframing If you’d like more information about the limited edition print of 200 please comment PATH

Thank you David and his team @thevannergallery and to everyone who attended and all your wonderful feedback and searching questions!🙏😍

‘Excellent talk and art by David Mankin’

‘The evening was fascinating and David Mankin was very interesting with no pretentiousness to mar his talk, just a down to earth person with a genuine desire to share his ideas. The gallery staff were also excellent, friendly, helpful and welcoming ... I shall be back’ Ann

The next stop on my book tour is the RWA in Bristol on the 22nd October with the author of David Mankin Language of Paint Alison Bevan @alison.bevan.10 Limited places are still available. Please comment MEET if you’d like to attend this event and I’ll send you the information link.

My final stop is in Edinburgh on November 5th with the @andgallery_ This event is now full for both morning and afternoon.

Bodies of Land and Water.

A body of work I have been dancing with for several years. Currently working towards an exhibition of the same title at @thevannergallery in November 2026.

It’s the last couple of days of the @beth_shapeero exhibition @thevannergallery in Salisbury. This is an excellent gem of a gallery right near #salisburycathedral which showcases unique contemporary art in all forms. @beth_shapeero work is so confident in stroke and lines, abstracted statements in bold colours and medium but never being aggressive or dominant. Its fluidity is magical. Please do go and look if you’re about that way. The wonderful david, the owner of the gallery will talk you through it all.

Wherever we stand in the world, we pause before a sunrise or sunset in shared wonder, united by the beauty of a sky that reminds us of our common humanity and the enduring promise of renewal. Just finished this large oil-painting (the original is much more vibrant and lost in this small pic).
Here I’ve got my back to Richmond Bridge looking west to Kew Bridge. This is a weekend scene when the riverside is packed! My sunset walks are so uplifting, catching that last glow.
