Specific training doesn’t mean making every exercise look like the sport. 🙅🏻‍♂️
It means understanding the demands AND the person.👌

👉The sport gives us the demands.
The athlete in front of us tells us what to train.

The Velo Farm is one of the greatest places I’ve ever watched a baseball game.

You drive down the lane and you’d never imagine what’s behind the house and barn. It looks like any other farm until it transforms into one of the most unique baseball fields I’ve ever experienced.

Just behind first base is a pasture with goats and cows. Right field is short, and just beyond the fence are more cows and pigs big enough to be cows. Want to get pregame swings in? You walk through that pasture to get to the batting cage. Center and left keep the uniqueness going, there’s a hill fielders have to navigate just to track down a fly ball.

Every year, Ryan the mastermind behind the Velo Farm hosts a Farm Sox vs. City Boys World Series, and it’s always some of the best baseball I watch all year.

Beyond the field, there’s a full training ground: a basketball court, a custom bullpen where Ryan trains pitchers with the kind of attention to detail that rivals a scientist.

But what really sets the Velo Farm apart is the people on it. Have a conversation with Ryan’s mom she runs a beautiful flower garden and does custom bouquets and you’ll see exactly where Ryan gets his confidence to bet on himself, and the creativity to turn a farm into a baseball paradise.

I call it Field of Dreams, East Coast. Until you experience the Velo Farm, it doesn’t seem possible or real. But I think that’s the whole point all of our dreams and aspirations seem unreal until we bring them to life.

Ryan might train pitchers and baseball players, but if you pay attention, he’s helping all the dreamers. He’s showing us what’s possible when you believe in yourself and have a support system that believes in you too.

It’s not going to be easy. You’ll question yourself and everything else. You just keep going, figuring it out, and constantly improving.
