Some songs take us back to a particular season of our lives, and some artists surprise us with where their journeys lead.

In 2003, Warren Barfield introduced himself to the CCM world with his self-titled major-label debut. “My Heart Goes Out,” co-written with Chris Eaton and Kyle Matthews, became one of his breakthrough singles, reaching No. 3 on the Christian AC chart and No. 5 on the Christian CHR chart. The song also appeared on WOW Hits 2004, introducing Warren’s music to an even wider audience.

His soulful vocals and melodic pop-rock sound helped him stand out among the emerging Christian artists of the early 2000s. He would later reach an even wider audience with “Love Is Not a Fight,” featured in the 2008 film Fireproof.

But Warren’s story didn’t end when he stepped away from the traditional music business.

After leaving touring and social media behind for several years, Warren chose a quieter life with his wife, Megan, and their family on a farm in Middle Tennessee. He traded the demands of the road for family life, farm work, and a different kind of musical journey.

Then came the barn concerts.

With Megan’s encouragement, Warren began inviting people to the farm for intimate performances in their barn. These aren’t ordinary concerts. They’re opportunities to hear his songs and favorite hymns, share stories, and connect with people in a setting built around faith, family, and community.

And the music is still coming! In September 2026, Warren released The Kind of Love We Never Want to End, marking his return to releasing new music after a 14-year gap.

Today, his stage may be a barn instead of a concert hall, but he’s still doing what he loves — on his own terms.

From the Christian radio charts of the early 2000s to a family farm in Tennessee, Warren Barfield’s journey reminds us that sometimes a new chapter doesn’t mean leaving music behind. It means finding a different way to share it.
