I just love these photos by @eric__roberts from the @clusterfestival piece in May, that Tanja Faylene Woloshen and I performed along with Joel Penner's stunning time lapse visuals.

It was called, H3LD, and the audience response was truly heartwarming, especially since this was SO far outside my comfort zone, were you there?

For those kind sad folks who lamented missing it, we are delighted to report that we will be performing it again on Nov. 6 at the óFukami theremin album launch!

That’s a wrap on another amazing Women’s Adventure Film Tour! 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who came out last night and helped make it such a great evening. This was our third year hosting the tour, and it’s so awesome to see the crowd growing bigger every year!

Thank you to our co-hosts at the West End Cultural Centre for providing such an amazing venue,the volunteers and to all of our community partners who joined us for an incredible night : Bikes and Beyond, Paddle Manitoba, Manitoba Association for Trail Runners, River Song Wilderness, Peg City parks,Manitoba Mushroom Society, Wilds of Manitoba, TNYF Training Centre, Backcountry Women and, CPAWS MB.

We love bringing people together to celebrate women in adventure and the incredible women who inspire us to get outside, try new things, and keep exploring.

Thanks again, Winnipeg! Until next year, keep adventuring!

My debut album as óFukami is out Friday, November 6, and we’re celebrating that night at the West End Cultural Centre with butoh by Tanja Faylene Woloshen, a portal-opening collab with Mama Cutsworth (the start of something new and exciting) Joel Penner’s amazing time lapse visuals, and a sci-fi dance party.

Sci-fi, fantasy and time-travel attire encouraged.

Dream Big Collaborative Piano and Flipside Opera & Art Song Collective are proud to be hosting Manitoba’s first songSLAM on Friday, January 29, 2027 at 8:00 pm at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg.

Founded by New York-based Sparks & Wiry Cries in 2015, songSLAM is a unique and energizing community event that spurs the creation of new art song (poetry set to classical voice and piano). This one-night only competition brings together composer/performer teams to premiere new art songs. The audience, in poetry slam tradition, votes for their favourite songs and awards prize money to the winning competitors.

Sign-up is first come, first served, and is open to people of all ages interested in creating new art songs.

Please mark your calendar for this special event! Audience tickets will be available from the West End Cultural Centre soon.

Dear friends, can you believe we've been singing about Christmas unicorns and making yuletide mashups for over a decade??

From the first ever, highly exclusive "Christmas with Myrhhvana" in my (Ava's) living room in 2013 - when Bicycle Face first became a glimmer in our post-show, pecan-whiskey-glazed eyes - to the cozy Epsilon Cabaret era of recent years, our annual Christmas show has become the most cherished tradition of the two BFFs that Bicycle Face comprises. Now we're so excited to bring it to @thewecc , with a full band, for a ten-year BF XMAS Best Of.

CKUW 95.9 FM, @stylusmagazine, @uwarchives are proud to present a demonstration and celebration of the new Stylus Digital Archive at the West End Cultural Centre on November 5.

CKUW 95.9 FM donated the entire back catalog of Stylus Magazine to the University of Winnipeg Archives in 2025. The Archives partnered with CKUW to apply for a Manitoba Heritage Grant to digitize every issue of Stylus dating from its first edition in 1989. As Stylus is Canada’s second-oldest independent music magazine, its archive is one of the most significant resources on the history of independent music in Canada.

The event on November 5 will feature performances spanning the magazine’s eras from ersatz electropop stalwart Vav Jungle (first covered in Stylus in 1993) and shoegaze scenesters Prairie (first covered in 2024), a demonstration of the new Stylus Archive, and a discussion with former Stylus contributor Jay Flores, who wrote the local hip hop column “Mental Notes” between 1993 and 2003.

This is a can’t-miss event for those wanting to learn more about the ’90s and early 2000s in Winnipeg independent music and a celebration of the work the bands, artists, and Stylus contributors did to build and document the scene.
