*ÈSÙ*
Esu in the Yoruba communities is not the devil or Satan as he has been and is being portrayed to be, but Esu is believed to be a messenger by the Yoruba people. He is responsible for giving the Yoruba people the act of divination by tricking the chief God Ifa into giving away his secrets.

Therefore, he is a trickster deity who is also important in his own right and greatly feared for the evil that he can do. He is also referred to as Elegbara or shigidi. Esu, often referred to as he, has masculine and feminine aspects. He is a lover of rum and tobacco. A shrine dedicated to Esu often has libations and cowry shells.

The followers of Esu often wear maroon and black in his honor, looking upon him for protection and his benevolent acts.

HISTORY TUESDAY"
*IFA*
The word Ifa refers to the mystical dirty of wisdom and intellectual development that teaches about Orunmila as believed by the Yoruba communities.

Ifa does not rely on a person having unclear power but rather on a system of signs that are interpreted by a diviner, the Ifa Priest or Babalawo literally 'the priest's father'.

The Ifa divination system is usually applied when an important decision has to be made. The Ifa corpus caller Odu consists of 256 parts, which are divided into verses called ese. Each of the Odu has its own divination meaning which is determined by the priest using the scared palm-nuts called Ikin and a divination chain called opele on a wooden divination trey called opon Ifa to mathematical calculate the Odu.

"HISTORY TUESDAY"
*OSANYIN*

Osanyin is the younger brother to Orunmila, but people refer to him as Orunmila's son because Orunmila really senior him. Their mother gave birth to Osanyin at old age.

Osanyin is an Orisha or diety of herbal knowledge. He was not taught the names and uses a leaves by anyone. Because of this gift of his, he was very proud and arrogant.

His arrogance made him molest and abuse a diviner called Majuyagbe who came to him to learn little of his knowledge. This made Majuyagbe sad, and Esu Odara took revenge on behalf of Majuyagbe by sending Ajija (spirit of whirwind) to attack Osanyin house. This wind brought down Osanyin house and lost one of his eyes, legs, and arms.

Just after that, war broke out in their village, and Osanyin was sold into slavery and he was later bought by Orunmila unknownly. When Orunmila found out, he took him back from being his slave and Osanyin became more powerful than when he had his two arms, legs, and eyes.

After this, Osanyin changed his mode of feeding as he feeds more on alligator pepper and gin, eggs, and honey.
