It’s important to document these things (apparently), and I haven’t posted anything in a while, so here’s a candid shot of backstage at the Kling Klang in Wilhelmshaven. I last played here in 1991 and I think that orange wall is new. Actually I’m looking forward to this one. It’s a great small venue in a somewhat run down town and I’m glad it’s survived so far. Support your local venue! Fuck the festivals, this is where it’s at! Here we go…

Brutal, magnificent- a minor monument to the twentieth century. I’m enjoying the long drive up to Scotland for the next part of my England Screaming tour. Glasgow tonight at the Hug & Pint, followed by Edinburgh, Dundee and Irvine.

As far as I remember I’ve never played in Tamworth before. I’ve driven through it with a couple of gullible Americans who I half convinced that a modern semidetached house we passed was the childhood home of Nick Drake, but I’ve never played there. Apparently there are still tickets left. I’ll be be great but perhaps the Tamworthians won’t like it…only (a short amount of) time will tell. Hurry up and get your tickets, and prepare for a trip of a lifetime, to Tamworth.

I have a whole load of paintings on a wall at the Allen Hall Gallery in Glandford, Norfolk. They’re for sale of course - we don’t believe in the hard sell but I would like to pay the bills next month! People are always saying there’s a shit ton of rich people in North Norfolk - you used to be able to spot them because they drove Range Rovers, said ‘yah’ instead of yes and the women wore those chemo headscarves even though their health was usually exquisitely, beautifully and utterly perfect. The menfolk wore tweed in a sort of pre-post-modern ironic affectation. Uniforms change and we all look the same now, though some of us look more elegantly scruffy than others. Anyway…I’d like to seduce some of these people into cluttering their homes with my paintings. At a price of course. I’ll make an exception to the hard sell rule for them and they’ll fucking love it! And I’ll donate some of the revenue to the food bank, save them a job.

My show on Saturday at the Auction House in Glandford, Norfolk has been postponed due to an administrative problem at the venue. A new date has been set: Saturday 21st February. Tickets will be valid for the new date and refunds are available.

Here I am again, relentlessly sticking to the square format which is particularly appropriate because my new LP comes out on Friday, and although it’s a flat round slab of black (or special limited edition clear) vinyl it comes in a traditional square cardboard cover. It’s also available as a slightly oblongated CD package (round CD inside), and an amorphously-shaped (if such a thing exists) download. And it also comes as a limited Personal Service package where I turn up at your house and perform it in person - though this package is outside most people’s budget. Better pop the sound on to enjoy a free snippet.

This is going to be great - at least I hope it is after the hours we've put in figuring out how to play these tunes live. We're going to play the whole thing in order and very definitely not exactly note for note...and then we'll redeem ourselves with a few old favourites (unless we get bottled off). There are still a few advance tickets to be had. The ticket link is up there at the top or "link in bio" as the professionals say.

Lady Of The Manor - got a new single and video coming later today. We have to learn to play all this stuff live - we're going to perform the new album, England Screaming, in its entirety at the Lexington onNovember 21st (plus some other tunes to stop people throwing stuff at us)... So if you're in London on November 21st the Lexington is possibly the place to be. I don't think I've ever played a release day show before!

I should really let people know this is happening. Last time I didn't clutter the world up with incessant posts of this sort I was told off by a fan who said the lack of information was irritating. I found this refreshing because I've always worried that posts like this one were irritating. But what can I do. I'm sure it'll be a terrific evening out and I'm particularly looking forward to the support act. If I can find a polyester wig - preferably one that glistens under the lights...

The McMahon Family Band plus adjuncts. We should perhaps rehearse a bit before we take inevitable and deluded step of turning professional. It might just be a wedding gig but this completely unplanned version of I Got You Babe is a strong start. I’m predicting great things for the McMahon Family Band, but really I’m more than utterly thrilled to be in Los Angeles for stepdaughter Hazel’s marriage to soon to be stepson-in-law Patrick…
