Best believe it’s all in the #beats

Some things I can do with ease and other things are a serious challenge right now. Of course being a creative powerhouse is natural but being an academic strategic scholar right now is so hard.

I feel lucky to have this outlet, without it so much would just stay in my field and stay stagnant. When we dance or sing especially when we improvise we turn off certain parts of the brain and turn on others. The parts of the brain that come on are similar to those parts when we’re meditating. I was saying to the group that performance practice can be a meditation. It’s an act that takes you out of your “normal” brain chemistry. Forces you to observe yourself in an abstraction in real time and then like in Jungian approaches to dream analysis you can analyse your improvisation to further overstand your psyche.

Well so I believe.

After every workshop in my vicinity this year I will perform an improvised solo to share where Beatmotion can go after ten years of practice. Enjoy this moment of percussive accompaniment and accenting.

#Beatmotion is a whole sophisticated thing with words that describe stuff hahaha 🤣 x

People think that opening up is weak. If that’s so true, why are we so afraid to do it!? 🤔 #julydump ❤️

We are still buzzing over the love & support we received over at 58 Greek street in launching our official magazine!

Thank you for making the journey we are newly embarking on one to remember & congratulations to all of our featured artists & creatives that we’ve been honoured to publish.

Cheers to Amapiano - more than music & quite simply put; a lifestyle 🥂💃🕺🏾🪩

RRU is like a family gathering, that can’t be recreated, you feel comfortable, you feel safe…if that makes sense.

This night in particular was exceptional, as I was glad to be a part of it from a different aspect. Being able to come down and capture visuals of the night, the atmosphere, the energy, was a massive milestone in my journey as a videographer.

Redroom Underground will always be a special place to me…it’s one of my favourite nights out. - Ish Gwegweni
