We’re super excited to announce that Christchurch Breweries Festival is back! Join us at Volstead on Saturday, 7th November 2026, for a day celebrating the awesome brewing scene we have right here in Christchurch.

This will be the third time we’ve hosted the festival, following events in 2022 and 2024. With Volstead under new ownership this year, we thought it was the perfect excuse to bring it back for another round!

We’ll be bringing together breweries from across the Christchurch region, showcasing a beer from each participating brewery. We’ll be making a proper day of it, with live music, delicious food from The Food Dude, and plenty of great local beer flowing throughout the day.

Tickets are available now through Eventfinda -https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2026/christchurch-breweries-festival-2026/christchurch

Your ticket includes:
🍺 A Christchurch Breweries Festival branded glass to take home
🍻 3 x beer tokens, each redeemable for a 285ml pour of festival beer (additional tokens will be available to purchase on the day)

So grab your mates, come along, and spend the day celebrating Christchurch beer with us! 🍻

What a brilliant sunset in the 03 tonight and I was lucky enough to find this banger from @thiefbrewing at my favourite store @durhamstreetcraft @newworldnz

Huhu Hazy Vol.3 features El Dorado hops and they absolutely shine here, juicy pineapple, ripe pear and watermelon candy all coming through beautifully. Soft, hazy, juicy and ridiculously easy drinking.

But there’s another little layer that I really loved…
I’m getting almost a subtle garlicky note creeping through, and honestly, it works! Rather than throwing things off, it adds this savoury little edge that plays bloody nicely with all that tropical sweetness.

This is exactly why I love single-hop beers, you get to really see what the hop can bring to the party, and El Dorado has absolutely turned up.

@thiefbrewing you’ve smashed this one.

It’s been bloody cold in Christchurch today and after a quick visit to the amazing guys at @punkybrewsterchch I decided on this epic looking stout from the cool cats at @thiefbrewing an x-rated Chocolate-Raspberry Stout.

A seriously indulgent winter stout bringing together rich roasted malt, smooth chocolate, subtle coffee roast and a hit of @barkersofgeraldine raspberry jam goodness.

That raspberry jam character gives it a delicious fruity sweetness, with the chocolate and coffee flavours adding depth and balance. Think dark chocolate, fresh berry notes and a smooth roasted finish, a proper winter treat without becoming overly sweet.

If you’re looking for the perfect stout for these chilly Ōtautahi nights, this one deserves a spot in the fridge.

Get out there and hunt one down… your winter beer lineup needs this.

You didn’t think we could breeze on past without shouting out our epic Bold River locals that just WON the Smiths NZIPA Challenge did you?! Fan-freaking-tastic work team 🥳 @brewmoonbrewingco @thiefbrewing @b.effectbrewing

Particularly poetic sensory notes by @beerswithcol_nz :
“What a beautiful haze and the nose jumps out the glass, smacks you around the chops and says drink me!! It truly shows that New Zealand hops are some of the best in the world... diesel, dank, stonefruit, herbaceous, massive amounts of fruit, touch of bitternerss to give it some roundness, but it’s the way the trio of breweries allowed all those hops to truly shine.” 🥹

It’s Friday, I’m in Love……with this beer!!

🏆 …And the winner is…

Got this winner from the @smithscraftbeer NZIPA Challenge 2026 from the amazing team at @punkybrewsterchch was it a worthy winner? Hell yeah!!

Brewed with the heavyweight trio of @claytonhops_nz Riwaka, CIP076 and @boldriverhops Nectaron. What a beautiful haze and the nose jumps out the glass smacks you around the chops and say drink me!!.

How @thiefbrewing @b.effectbrewing and @brewmoonbrewingco managed to produce such a@stunning beer is beyond me? It truely shows that New Zealand hops are some of the best in the world….diesel, dank, stonefruit, herbaceous, massive amounts of of fruit, touch of bitterness to give it some roundness, but it’s the way the trio of breweries allowed all those hops to truely shine….every sip, makes you want more, although if I’m being honest I left some for tomorrow so I have a 5 ⭐️beer to drink then.

Stunner guys….if you are around Christchurch, i urge you to get to @punkybrewsterchch to get some as it WILL run out…..

Last weekend we were completely blown away, and so stoked to win the Smiths IPA Challenge!

This is a real dream come true for us, standing up infront of some amazing brewers and breweries that we love and respect. Knowing that on this night we made the best beer, was a surreal experience.

The beer Lunar Effect Hazy IPA was a Collab with
@thiefbrewing
@brewmoonbrewingco
This is the third year we have collaborated for this competition, and it is gratifying to have perseverance and teamwork pay off.

The biggest shout out has to go to Ethan and Thief where we brewed the beer. Ethan was our brewer before going to Thief, so the blood runs deep. Along with Andy our Head Brewer being the brewer at Brew Moon previously as well.

Its a real affirmation for the team, that all our hard work over the last year and longer is paying off. The team keeps going above and beyond to make great Beer and Kombucha for our amazing partners & customers.

Thanks must go out to Chris & Matt from @smithscraftbeer for all the hard work and putting this event on for the industry. They've really built something special down here in Central Otago. This was the first time its been won by any brewery from the South Island, so it was very special for them as well.

Thanks to @claytonhops_nz for being such good growers and supporting the event and industry.

Congratulations to Scotty @neckofthewoodsnz
for taking out people's choice award too, so great to see him back and smashing it!

Not Bold River Hops featuring in nearly every brew at the @twothumbbrewingco Fresh Hop Beerfest last month 😎 A massive congrats to our (very) local @thiefbrewing for taking out the People’s Choice award with their magnificent Hazy, Brood Mother. Brewing up an absolute treat with 75kg of our Mot, fresh from the garden and straight into the tank. Legends!

Was gifted a couple of IPA's from New Zealand - and they were great! The @casselsbrewingco was my favourite; bold and super juicy, with a lingering bitter finish. Loved the cans of both!
Looking forward to experiencing more great flavours one day when I visit!
