We’re going to Women Deliver 💜

Our founder, Sapphire will be in Naarm (27th -30th) to attend Women Deliver and the WD Youth Pre-conference.

She’ll be sharing about gender transformative education, feminist financing and safeguarding during the conference and she’ll also be floating in spaces around climate, SRHR and young feminist organizing.

If you’re a young feminist attending WD, let’s connect at the fiery feminist meetup 💚

✊🏾 From Bangladesh to Nepal, Peru to Morocco, Kenya to Madagascar, in every corner of the world, girl- and youth-led movements are taking to the streets, calling out corruption, demanding accountability, and pushing for systems change beyond failed political leaders. While we are seeing a spike in protests from Gen-Z hitting the mainstream media, this is not a new phenomena. For millennia, students and young people have toppled authoritarian regimes, illuminated failed governance, and organized in their communities to demand change.

🙏🏾 At a time when trust in institutions across the globe is at an all time low and we face some of the greatest challenges of our times, from the climate crisis to rising inequality and pervasive conflict and war, young feminist- and youth-led movements give us hope and an opportunity to reimagine our futures.

✍🏼 Vinita Sahasranaman, Co-lead, @uaf_anp and Ruby Johnson, Director, @globalresiliencefund @wearepurposeful_org / Co-Founder, @think.closer write about why funders and decision makers must show up and fund them to win!

🌳What if philanthropy operated like a collaborative ecosystem rather than a competitive marketplace?

NEW on the CEP blog, Devi Leiper O'Malley, Ruby Johnson, and Swatee Deepak of Closer Than You Think challenge the sector’s default to competition and scarcity thinking. Drawing from nature and their own collaborative journey funding girl- and young feminist-led movements, they make a case for "solidarity leadership."

✨ It’s nearly time to say goodbye to Sirena Curiosa at Robin’s Nest ✨

In seven days, my little stall @robinsnestsouthampton will close. It’s been such a tender, joyful, transforming experience - and I’ve written all about the journey in my first Substack post, The Siren’s Gift (link in bio).

To be clear, Sirena Curiosa isn’t going anywhere - but it is time for the next stage, which I’ll be sharing in due course.

Until then, I’ll be posting highlights from my final stock refresh: selkie-skin dresses, sea-sparkle accessories, vintage books, toys, and last-chance mermaid treasures.

🌊 7 days left
🐚 Lots of magic still to find
🧜‍♀️ Come by if you can - or follow along here as I share what’s still to come.

My heart is so full! I got to spend #internationalwomensday in one of my favourite places, surrounded by incredible women, supporting @yellowdoorsol a charity that helped me rebuild when I first returned to Southampton 9 years ago.

THANK YOU TO

💜 everyone who came to support our event at October Books!

👗 my event partner @flos_vintage who creates good vibes community around all that she does - and has a flawless eye for vintage fashion. We only met weeks ago but feels like forever in the best way.

✨ @sunamiajewellery, @scraps_bysash and @from.the.altar for bringing your beautiful creations and giving a new event your magic!

🎨 @sarahlawak whose curious mermaid artwork is a joyful companion and source of inspiration!

🌸 @primrose_paperbacks for setting up and running the stall, all your help before and after, and for wonderful book recommendations.

🍚 @joy_veal3 for bringing delicious Filipino food to share!

👶 @samanthaveal for lifts & supplying cute nieces!

🪡 @southampton.sewing.hub for giving me a safe and warm place to quiet my anxious mind and meet so many different women - more people need to know about you! Loved displaying Suzie Carleys sleepwear for those with menopause.

📚@jan.carr who couldn’t be there in person but was repped by her inspiring wonder girls and supported yellow door anyway

🍉 @afon_mor for sending over your loving made in Southwark crafts for Palestine and trusting me to host your Southampton chapter!

🦊 @makerfoxby for your perfectly formed creations!!

🌊 @sophiawatsonart for coming along, taking time and sharing your beautiful art.

🥟 @kate_simone for coming, and staying to help pack up - and for deep chats over dim sum after.

Popped by October Books today and pleased to see our International Women’s Day event supporting @yellowdoorsol in the window! We’re looking forward to transforming the wonderful community space into a haven for women owned businesses and a potluck party to boot, fun for all the family.

My mum will be making Filipino Adobo and sticky rice!
