Living with an illness can teach you so much about your own experience, sometimes in ways that are difficult to put into words: you learn what feels different, what helps on a difficult day, what questions to ask, and sometimes, what you wish someone had told you sooner. Along the way, you might also meet people who understand because they have been there themselves, and find comfort in knowing you do not have to figure everything out alone. However, there are times when this knowledge is not given the space it deserves. Your concerns might be brushed aside and not be taken seriously. At Believe In The Invisible, we believe there is room for these experiences to be heard. Your lived experience matters, and so does the knowledge you find through people and communities. We would love to hear your story, in whatever form feels right to you. You can DM us or scan the QR code in the post to share it with us; you can also find the link in our bio! #BelieveInTheInvisible #InvisibleDisabilities #ChronicIllness #LivedExperience #PatientAgency

This World Mental Health Day, we are thinking about the things that shape how we feel about our lives and our future. From economic instability and climate change to the everyday challenges we navigate, there is a lot that can weigh on us. For people living with chronic conditions, questions around healthcare and health insurance can shape that bigger picture significantly. Mental health looks different for everyone, and so do the experiences and circumstances that shape it. We would like to make space for these conversations and hear from you. If you feel like sharing, tell us what has been on your mind lately, or share a story or thought that you would like more people to hear. You can leave a comment or drop us a DM. We would love to listen! #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #InvisibleDisabilities #HealthInsurance

What does it take to make an adolescent health service truly welcoming to young people with disabilities? Our Founder and Executive Director, @saysnidhigoyal, explored this question with over 1,200 AFHC counsellors across 2 sessions of the 3rd national training on Building Skills for Sensitivity Towards Disability in AFHC Services on 29th September ‘26. The session on ‘Growing Up’ Changes in Adolescents with Disabilities invited counsellors to look beyond the clinical aspects of adolescence and consider the everyday realities that shape how young people experience growing up. Crucially, it highlighted the importance of recognising how attitudes, overprotection, inaccessible information, limited privacy, restricted social participation, and inaccessible environments directly affect an adolescent's experience. Nidhi brought attention to small, large, and invisible barriers that can shape access to care and information for young people with disabilities. The participants were encouraged to pause, question assumptions and think about how their own practice can create more room for young people’s voices and choices. The training was organised by UNFPA India, supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in partnership with Centre for Knowledge and Development (CKD). @unfpaindia @mohfwindia @ipe_ckd Light lavender background with the RF logo on the top right. Below, dark bold text reads: “On 29th September, more than 1200 counsellors across 24 states (and UTs?) of India came together online for a national training on disability sensitivity in adolescent-friendly health center (AFHC) services conducted by our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Ashok Goyal.”

Learning. Unlearning. Reimagining. A meaningful experience at CREA Training — a space to question, reflect, learn, and unlearn the ways we understand gender and society. Grateful to be part of conversations that inspire us to think differently, challenge inequalities, and work towards a more equal and inclusive world. #SocialChange #GenderEquality

Is scale the only measure of impact in social development? At the WLIA roundtable, Anuradha @think.crea reflects on the pressure to measure change through scale and numbers and asks us to look beyond what can be easily counted. Her insight invites us to rethink how we understand progress and what we value when we talk about impact. For the women’s and girls’ leadership ecosystem, this means creating space for different forms of change, learning from one another and strengthening how we collectively understand progress. If you've been considering supporting the advancement of girls' and women's leadership, reach out to womenlead@dasra.org. Infinite possibilities. #womenleadership #girlsleadership #allianceoverisolation #collectiveaction #philanthropy

The funding may close. Workshops may end. Project names may disappear from calendars. But ideas, relationships, skills and movements built should not. We joined feminist CSOs, partners & funders in Nairobi for the Feminist Opportunities Now (FON) closing workshop marking 4 years of implementation and reflecting on what was built and what should continue beyond it. FON supported 210 feminist CSOs across 10 countries, with 188 receiving over €7M in flexible funding. In Kenya, 65 feminist orgs & networks benefited, 16 receiving €833,357 across 9 counties. But perhaps the most important outcome isn’t a number. It’s knowledge. Through international knowledge sharing, feminist orgs documented what works in their communities digital spaces, community strategies, advocacy, case management, access to justice, intersectionality. These were brought together into an international toolkit of feminist practices, plus a report on the FON support model and policy brief. Message was clear: Global South is not just where programmes are implemented. It is a source of knowledge, innovation & solutions. The workshop brought knowledge to life through active listening, community dialogue, collective care & healing, digital engagement, access to justice & community-led advocacy. Participants asked: Could this work in our context? What would it take? Do we have capacity? We also discussed what next because closing a project doesn’t mean challenges disappear. Need for continued investment in grassroots feminist orgs, stronger community trust, integrated care, respect for autonomy, policy influence, safety & security, and sustainable support for movements. As closing reminded us, work doesn’t end when project ends. For RHNK, FON leaves lessons on locally led solutions, flexible support, shared learning & space for grassroots orgs to shape responses to their communities’ challenges. Projects have end dates. Movements, knowledge & change should not. ✊🏾 #RHNK4Impact #FeministOpportunitiesNow #FON

We were honoured to join the FON Capitalisation Dissemination Workshop in Nairobi, a space to reflect on what the Feminist Opportunities Now project has made possible through feminist funding, movement-building and support for grassroots organisations challenging gender-based violence. The gathering was graced by H.E. Amb. Wadid Benaabou, France Ambassador to Kenya; Anne-Gaël Chapuis-Mirol, Country Director, AFD Kenya; Dr Claudia Shilumani, IPPF Africa Regional Director; the FON team; and fellow feminist partners. Our work at Feminists in Kenya has grown tremendously because FON believes in and resources grassroots feminist organising. Their courageous support has strengthened our organisation, expanded what we believe is possible, and enabled us to reach, learn with and organise alongside more feminists and communities. We continue to carry its lessons, relationships and possibilities forward. Our deepest gratitude to the entire FON Consortium made up of @ippfar, @fidh, @think.crea, @medecinsdumonde, @empow.her with the support of @afd_france and @franceinkenya for investing in grassroots feminist movements and trusting us to build the futures our communities deserve. 💜 We were also delighted to bring copies of the Feminist Magazine and share some of the ideas, stories and political imagination emerging from our movement. If you did not get a physical copy, you can read the digital editions for free through the link in our bio. 💜 We were honored to meet and interact with France’s new Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Amb. Wadid Benaabou. One thing about us, we’ll bring our magazines to the function! 🤗 Our Co-Executive Director, Nancy @simplyhouston45 shared a reflection on the power of feminist movements and the importance of continuing to resource them. Our Co-Executive Director, Vivian shared a bit more about our annual Transformative Justice Institute that creates a space to re-imagine and increase access to justice for survivors of violence. We always love being in conversation with amazing feminist organizers from all over Kenya. Our web of achievements and gratitude. So many powerful testaments of the power of resourcing feminist movements. ❤️ Not us
