New foster girl Mei is keeping Gabe on his toes! Mei (short for A-Mei-zing) is taking adoption applications via @cagetocouchrescue in SoCal. She is three years old, a ball of fun, and will be ready for a home when her current eye and ear infections clear up. She would prefer a home without cats. Well, she’d LOVE a home with cats, but your cats would surely see it differently.

Meet Nancy! One of the 4,000 beagles rescued from a breeding facility in Virginia. Nancy and her fellow pups need homes AND we must stop breeding animals for experiments. We know this approach does not provide conclusive data and yet we persist … follow @whitecoatwaste for more information and end animal testing

Europe is in the grips of a fierce heat wave, and many animals have no opportunity to escape from the heat.

Trapped in transport trucks, hot barns and zoo enclosures, farmed and captive animals will suffer in this scorching weather.

Animals are still shipped in open-sided trucks in all weather conditions, even though many may die from overheating in sweltering, humid summers. According to experts, many will arrive at the slaughterhouse dead or dying.

While many caring citizens are putting out water and shelter for urban animals and birds in this blistering heat, most animals in need are those confined within our human systems.

"150 years ago, they would hake thought you were absurd if you advocated for the end of slavery. 100 years ago, they would have laughed at you for suggesting that women should have the 50 years ago, they would object to the idea of African Americans receiving equal rights under the law. 25 years ago they would have called you a pervert if you advocated for gay rights. They laugh at us now for suggesting that animal. slavery be ended. Some day they won't be laughing. "

Reposted from @thinkingvegan @searangerseafoodstation had a new vegan sushi item on their menu as well as vegan calamari. So of course we had to pack up Josephine and head out to Ventura to pick up lunch.

The fried calamari came with Ranger sauce. The breading was great. I cannot recall the last time I had calamari. The sauce was really interesting.

The new sushi roll is the Alaska roll. It's filled with vegan salmon, cucumber, avocado, vegan crab and cream cheese, topped with vegan salmon, unagi sauce, Wasabi mayo and tempura bits.

@chefanthonylongoria continues to amaze.

Today is Frederick’s 14th birthday, which he almost lived to see. With the diagnosis of a heart condition early in the pandemic, and a diagnosis of liver and spleen tumors in October, my one wish was for him to make it to today. I didn’t get my wish. It was almost exactly nine years ago he was freed from the laboratory: almost nine years of liberty and unconditional love. Romp in power with your soul brother Douglass.

Reposted from @thinkingvegan Vegan sushi getaway with the dogs, well, sort of.
Being that it's #nationalpetday plus #veder plus #shelterathome #selfquarantine day number 2,095, we thought we'd pack up the car with beagles and head out to Ventura for a nice day trip. Of course the new definition of a day trip is getting out of the car and picking up the sushi, while @evolotus walks Frederick and Josephine for a grand total of five minutes in Ventura.

@searangerseafoodstation and @chefanthonylongoria added 13 new vegan sushi options a couple of months ago that we've been dying to try. Okay, not the best choice of words. Unfortunately one of our orders was mixed up so we got to try three new sushi options rather than four.

Crunchy Tiger Roll - we have had CT before. It was still amazing. Crab, Tempura Shrimp, Cucumber, Avocado topped with Tempura bits and drizzled with Unagi Sauce & Spicy Mayo.

Fire Cracker Roll - okay, this is super spicy! Spicy Dynamite Crab, Serrano Chile, Tempura Shrimp, Avocado & Cucumber topped with Sesame and Red Chili Flakes.

Rock Lobster Roll - this was my favorite. Seriously good. Famous Lobster Roll Tempura Fried & filed with sautéed Lobster, Crab, Avocado, Cucumber and Cream Cheese.

Red Snapper Roll - not as big flavors as the others. Still good and really unique in the vegan sushi world. Savory Red Snapper, Crab, Cucumber & Avocado topped with Sautéed Red Snapper and Avocado atop an Unagi, Spicy Mayo Drizzle.

As always, Sea Ranger Seafood Station delivered. Not technically, but it was a nice drive out of the city on a beautiful 71 degree day. I am comfortable at home, seriously stuffed.
