Some of the best burgers in NYC cost less than the ones we’re still mad about.

My brother and I have ranked over 100 burgers in New York City. Here’s how some of the city’s best-known burgers compare on price and our Brotherly Burgers ratings.

For value, Gotham Burger Social Club at 9.4/10 and Flat Out Burger at 8.8/10 are two of our standouts. Both beat burgers that cost several times as much.

Spending more can absolutely be worth it. Red Hook Tavern earned our highest score at 9.9/10, while Nowon and 4 Charles Prime Rib both earned a 9.5/10. But paying steakhouse prices doesn’t automatically get you a better burger.

Top left is where your wallet wants you to eat. Bottom right owes us an explanation.

Which NYC burger is actually worth what they’re charging?

Find our full NYC burger rankings, reviews and burger map at burgerverse.org.

A little late, but here are some of my favorite eats from September. 🍽️

Apparently, September was the month of burgers, so I think I’ve had my burger fix taken care of for the remainder of the year. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.

🦪 The fried mussels at Eel Bar were fantastic.

🍔 The burger at June made it straight into my top 10, and so did the one at Rule of Thirds.

🥞 The “Swedish” pancake was, in fact, not particularly Swedish at all, but rather a flatter American pancake. Delicious nonetheless, even if incorrectly named and made. 👀

🍔 The Notorious B.E.E.F. didn’t quite make my top 10, but was still a great eat, and the fries were to die for.

🦀 Crab legs, oysters, and mussels. What’s not to love about happy hour at Crave Bar?

🍝 The pasta ragù at Winnie’s Jazz Bar was unexpectedly good.

🍽️ Kabawa was solid.

🍣 And the sushi at Sushi W was great, even if the service was unnecessarily snobby.

All in all, a pretty good month of eating.

ONE duck. $170. Brooklyn. 🦆💸

I know what you're thinking…

But this 14-day dry-aged duck at Rule of Thirds comes as THREE courses:

🥬 Duck breast lettuce wraps
🍚 Duck fried rice
🍵 Smoky tea-infused bone broth

And it's designed to feed 2–4 people.

So… is this a special-occasion splurge, or have NYC restaurant prices officially gotten out of hand? 👀

What if moving your money could actually be… fun?

We’re bringing Solar Punk Farms’ iconic Divestment Happy Hour to Brooklyn.

Join Climate Farm School, Walden Mutual Bank + Webatuck Valley Farm Collaborative for an evening about something that sounds decidedly un-happy-hour-ish: where our money lives, what it funds, and what becomes possible when we move it somewhere else.

Because this isn’t only about leaving the big banks financing extractive industries. It’s also about what our money can help build instead.

Last year, Webatuck Valley Farm Collaborative and its food hub partners moved 1.5 million pounds of food through the Hudson Valley. Walden Mutual is helping support that work through financing designed specifically around the needs of the regional food system.

Come learn how it works, ask all your questions, eat something good, meet the people behind the work and stamp your favorite jacket / tote / socks / mystery textile at our CFS woodblock station.

📍 Rule of Thirds, Brooklyn
⏰ 10/28, Arrivals at 5:30 | food + program at 6
🎟 $35, including snacks + an N/A beverage

Details + tickets at the link in bio.

Japanese breakfast is my favorite meal, even when I’m in Williamsburg

🐟 oishiiiiiii

this looks like a stack of very thin crepes, but it’s not. it’s yamaimo with yuzu kosho. delicious but still a bit too slimy for me.
