📚 Come read with us, relatives.

Last season, we launched the All My Relations Book Club as a space to read Indigenous writers together, and to bring our own lived experiences, questions, and relationships into the conversation.

Now we’re reading Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future by Patty Krawec.

And we have two chances to gather around this book in October:

✨ Surviving Together with Patty Krawec
October 17 at Tidelands
Join us for an evening with Patty as we dig deeper into Becoming Kin and what it asks of us as we imagine how we might live differently, and survive together.

📖 All My Relations Book Club Meeting
Sunday, October 25 at 10 AM
Join us at Tidelands or on Zoom for our community discussion of Becoming Kin.

Because books hit differently when we read them with each other, with our histories, and with the worlds we’re trying to build.

Come read with us. ❤️ Join the book club:

One of Taproot’s biggest goals is to create a third space for Indigenous businesses—a place where we can amplify the incredible work already happening and help drive more customers, visibility, and opportunity their way.

That’s why we created our Native Business Directory, starting with businesses and experiences in the Seattle area.

Our vision is to grow the directory into a resource for communities across the country, a place where anyone looking to support Native people, businesses, artists, restaurants, cultural experiences, and communities can find them.

Know a Native-owned business or experience we should add? Drop it in the comments! 👇🏽 We’re always looking to expand the network and make it easier to find and support Native businesses.

All sober native chefs/cooks!

Nights like this make me so proud, chef @nephi_craig is a pioneer and helped build the very foundation we stand on today through all the awesome work we do @javelina.pdx & @inisha.pdx we got to celebrate his new book “Our knives will save us” I became very captivated as it covers things like recovery, fatherhood, traditional foods, cooking, and so much more.

Somehow I’ve managed to be placed in a great position in this reclaiming of indigenous food ways underneath @cheflex_pdx I love our foods, I love what we do.

Thank you to @matikawilbur for being a great host and sharing your beautiful new space @this.is.tidelands

Keep your knives sharp!
