Belgian artist Ruben Bellinkx investigates the vulnerability of our perceived reality.

Sink 2004 is a video art installation of over six minutes in which a water tap flows above a sink, but reality is disrupted in a subtle, absurd way when the sink dissolves.

'In her sculptures, Lélia Demoisy combines the plant and animal worlds, demonstrating continuous hybridization.

The forest is not just a backdrop; it is a system of relationships and a living organism. The tree's bark protects it like a fleshy shell, its heart has hardened, turning into a spine, and its entire being retains the memory of its life and traces of genetic mutations that have occurred over millions of years.'

"For Kim, the water droplet—a recurring motif that became his signature—always transcended any mere material or idealized depiction. It became instead a potent allegorical vessel for emotional and spiritual exploration, resonating deeply with East Asian philosophical traditions and the historical currents of South Korea itself."

🖤 Pierre Soulages🖤

"Soulages researched the relationship between black and light to create a pictorial space that stood apart from the monochromes of modern art. Self-taught and working with complete artistic independence, Soulages explored the possibilities of painting and developed his inimitable poetic style."

From his "Landline" series, oil on copper👌🏻

"I try to paint this, this sense of elemental coming-together side by side, stacked in horizon lines endlessly beginning and ending – the way the blocks of the world hug each other and brush up against each other, their weight, their air, their colour, and the soft uncertain space between them."

🔥 Rauschenberg's Glut Series 🔥

"Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008) revolutionised the picture plane through the inclusion of everyday objects, which he termed ‘gifts from the street’, redefining and expanding the boundaries of what could be considered an artwork. It was in this spirit that he created his Glut series of sculptural assemblages at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s."

"The concrete sculpture demonstrates Nicolas Daubanes' deep interest in the theme of injury.
During the Commune, during the Bloody Week (that took place in Paris from May 21 to 28, 1871), it was in front of the Communards' Wall, part of the Père-Lachaise Cemetery, that on Saturday the 27th, 147 Communards were shot by the Versailles army and thrown into a pit.

Daubanes inserted samples of sugar into the holes and then heated them to create the long red streaks simulating bullet impacts."

"Contrary to the popular misunterstanding, Karl Marx, who wrote The Civil War in France in 1871 to analyze the Commune, had almost no followers in Paris at the time of the uprising. Marxist ideology, which became popular later, was NOT the driving force behind the insurrection. The points the Commune wanted to reach were far ahead of its time:

• Separating the church from the state.

•Requisitioning empty houses.

•Submitting property to collective needs (rather than abolishing it)

•Encouraging worker cooperatives and self-management of abandoned factories."

Andrea Rees uses ceramics, photography, storytelling, and other media to explore social concerns such as aging, isolation/division, and our relationship to nature.

The porcelain piece in the photos was created as part of a larger installation entitled 'Ghosts'. Comprised of 23 unique porcelain vessels and willow sculptures, the installation pays tribute to the ghosts of the 10 million hectares of trees our planet loses every year.

The photo of this specific 'Ghost' was taken with a metal bird as further reflection on our destructive relationship with nature - it is projected that over 500 bird species face extinction in the next century due to habitat loss and climate change.

Even in her early works, the cloud as a manifesto of the ephemeral was a recurring motif that the artist and philosophy graduate Petra von Kazinyan filled with emotion.
The liquid modernity, as Zygmunt Bauman once so aptly described it, has become nebulous. Everything once flowed - now everything seems to be in a cloudy state of dissolution. Dematerialization, nothing seems tangible anymore.

Petra von Kazinyan’s enigmatic, poetic Cloud Paintings reflect inner and outer landscapes and also refer to a future that is currently being rewritten.
Our lives, collected in clouds.

#stephenshanabrook "For me, work is about the process of manipulating a particular material and treating it as a temporary guest in my hands. My driving force has always been the found object, sacred with its own history. Passing on the story, but adding my own bit to the pot."
