Hi, I’m Alexis. I’m a realtor, single mom, and new empty nester in Echo Park—my favorite pocket of Los Angeles.

I’ve lived within a mile of here for 35+ years. I know the streets, hills, homes, and hidden corners. It’s lush, funky, and a little wild.

But I didn’t come to real estate through real estate.

I came through the art world.

I studied photography at Otis and earned an MFA in Fine Arts. After grad school, I worked for artist Mike Kelley. Later, I turned my art studio into Mandarin Gallery and started Mandarin Press, making handmade books and catalogues.

Translation: I know how to see things, present them beautifully, and write.

I closed the gallery after the recession. Around that time, I had my daughter, Eloise, with artist James Hayward. James and I never married, but we were both devoted to her.

James recently died. Eloise is 18 and a freshman at the college she chose partly to be near him. Losing her dad has been very hard.

Why does this matter to you?

Because I bring all of my life and training to real estate.

I’ve renovated five properties and worked with architects, designers, contractors, and engineers. I’ve also studied psychology at Pepperdine and negotiation with former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss.

His approach taught me something important:

My job isn’t to talk you into selling your home.

It’s to listen well enough to understand what you really want.

Your home isn’t just an asset. It’s safety, memory, family, and belonging.

Sometimes I meet people who think they’re ready to sell and realize they’re not.

That’s okay.

You need space, facts, and time to make your own decision.

And when you are ready? We make it creative and even fun.

I won’t sugarcoat it. Buying, selling, and moving can be stressful and emotional.

So we plan for that, too.

It’s a little like childbirth. While you’re in it, you may wonder why anyone willingly does this.

Then you’re settled into your new home, looking around and thinking:

Oh.

This is why.
