There’s a brand new breakfast spot right in the middle of one of Newcastle’s best loved parks, and I think they might serve the biggest French toast in the North East. This is Bandstand in Exhibition Park. Brought to us by the same team behind Deep North, their new space champions food, drink and recreation and is a brilliant addition to this much-loved part of the city. Whether you’re out walking the dog, just finished parkrun or are taking the kids to the playpark, Bandstand is such an easy, laidback place to stop.  You can grab everything from a full breakfast to Deep North doughnuts, speciality coffee and wood-fired pizza. I popped in for brunch and ordered the French toast with malt mascarpone, banana, chocolate shavings and honey. The bread was an absolute doorstop, it was SO good and kept me full for the rest of the day.  But Bandstand isn’t just aimed at the daytime crowd. On Friday and Saturday evenings things become a bit more grown-up, with natural wines, cocktails, craft beers, live music and DJs. 📍 Bandstand! Exhibition Park, Claremont Road, Newcastle. Seemed like a good time to post this, on International Coffee Day! We are recruiting for a Head of Coffee. The new role will lead on coffee quality, training and development across all @deepnorthuk and @thisisbandstand sites. Specifically, the role will develop and implement a new group wide barista training programme, lead on coffee selection and drinks menu, maintain equipment standards, support new openings and help drive commercial performance. Working closely with site teams and roasting partners, they will develop people, improve consistency and build on our reputation for exceptional speciality coffee across the North East. Experience in and knowledge/love of speciality coffee is a must, alongside a talent for working with and developing people. We are looking for someone who is organised, diligent, proactive, enthusiastic, a good communicator and enjoys maintaining high standards.
